How do I set the timing on 89 rmx 250

I am putting a stator on my rmx 250.The holes to mount the stator plate are oval .There are no marks.I put the screws in the center.Does anyone have a manual to let me know what position I need to install this.Thanx

Man I didnt see any lines on mine.How close does it look like te bolt hole is to the center of the oval.I cant tell for sure.I have to try to get that flywheel back off.,thanx for the help

From the pic in the manual, it looks slightly towards the top of the slot from center.

I did find the spec in the manual. 7.5 dgrees, + or - 1 degree BTDC @ 9000 rpm. :ohmy:

Look hard for a mark on the stator and the case. They are sometimes hard to see.

Most times there is a mark for the timing, as well as TDC on the flywheel. If you have a timing light, you can run the engine and check the timing with a light.
