How do you know?

I just bought a 1998 yz 250 worked out to the max with top of the line everyhting, nothing over a year old. Someone recently mentioned how do i know its a 250 and not a 125. Im not to inclined in 2 strokes yet and just curiouse in how you can tell.

Left side/clutch of the bottom of the cylinder should say the displacement in CC. I think it's 246.8CC

The easiest way is just to look at the engine, the 250 has a much taller cylinder, another thing is the pipe, if it`s a 250 the pipe makes a "turn" in front of the frame (below your front fender).. 125 doesnt have that turn in the pipe.. .

If you have trouble kicking it without boots on, then it`s a 250. 125 is almost like kicking a modified moped.. .
