ive got a 1996 kx500 and ride trails that are made of sand, with some roots in them and whoops and stuff.im wondering how soft/stiff should my suspention be for it to handle good?i dont jump any jumps.thanks.
its all preference man. Nobody can tell you what stiffness it should be. I like to go softer for trail riding, and harder for motocross. but thats just me.
2fast...check out Jer's tuning guide at www.mxtech.com That should help you make educated decisions. Don't be afraid to try different settings, you can always put them back to original.
The best 'rough guide' I can give you is that you should just bottom out once every lap. You can tie a piece of thread around one of the fork legs to see how much of the travel you are using. That travel is there to be used after all.
