It fits into the cylinder between the pipe and the cylinder. No real 'tips' required. Remove your pipe, put in the ring, put your pipe back on.
The FRP website doesn't say, but I would suppose it to be a good idea to use an oem copper gasket on either side. That's probably not critical, but having a heavier (than aluminum) metal vibrating against the aluminum of the cylinder can't be a good thing.
Doing a search with the words 'torque' and 'ring' would have shown you this:
