Hey lou,

How did you strip and polish that swingarm? Did you put a brush finish on it or smooth. I was thinking of sanding out my swingarm to get rid of some deep scratches and polishing, but I not sure how to go about it. It has a brush finish on it now. You don't know how to get that effect.

P.S. Lookin good. I liked that yellow and black thing on the older yamahas.

The aluminum was polished with an industrial polishing wheel. If you do not have access to one, take the stuff to a custom wheel shop. They usually have the means to polish that stuff right up.

Big Bore-you are so right. I have rode Yamaha for years and I was pretty jazzed when they went all blue, but when I saw the Hurricane kit for the first time, I was hooked. Then, when I saw Ty Davis in action on one in Time to Ride, I had to have it!

That's awesome!

I've told all my friends ever since I got back into bikes that if YZ's were still yellow, that's what I'd be riding! I'm still bummed that they went to blue.

Very nice bike, I can't wait to see the completed pics!

I have to say, when we started this project I had no clue what it was going to turn out like. I figured, at best, it would look good. Man, this thing does not look good. To say it looks good would be an insult! Pictures can not even begin to show how freakin' awesome this things looks! Last night my wife asked how much we spent on it. I figure somewhere in the area of $600. That is pretty darn good considering all of the work done to it. Hell, powder coating and aluminum polishing alone would have ran me about another $300 but Lou came through for me! I figure, $600 is pretty good considering the thing is better than the day it rolled out of the showroom. I want to thank Lou for all of his help and expertese on this project. I also want to thank Summit Cycle in Lees Summit, MO for giving is some pretty great deals on stuff.


Now it is time to ride!
