OH NO! Another militant non-smoker in the offing!

Keep walking toward the light. It gets better. Try not to gloat about it too much, though. :D

I quit a week and aday ago, after 10+ years. I think I'll make it this time. I'm doing it without the patch, but I'm open to trying it. How is it working for you? Does it make you sick or anything else undesireable?

Good Luck :)

Symptoms.....oh man, did I ever get some wierd stuff going on! I think the 48 hour mark was the worst for me. I was just nuts, my ears were ringing, I was short of breath, dizzy and meaner than a rattlesnake with a cactus up his......

It passed though, and I rediscovered a lot of neat things in life. Food. Food tastes. Really, it has flavor! Cold days don't seem so cold (circulation is better) and hot days don't seem so hot. A three hour long bicycle ride around town didn't get tiring. I don't get dehydrated near as fast. I even notice little things like my neck quit hurting and my dog quit sneezing all the time (poor girl, if I'd only known).

I must admit, I do fall off every now and then after a few too many adult beverages, but come the morning after, I sure do regret it. Everything just reeks and I have a coat of yuck on my tongue.

Hang tough all you quitters! Life is much better without smokes.

OK, you people have shamed me into trying again. Last time was not pretty, fell off the wagon so many times, butt was sore from hitting the ground.
Here we go again, all out.
Good luck.

Way to go Rick. You have passed the toughest part, it's all easier from here on out. You mention keeping $ in your wallet longer, I noticed that too. i saw on the new somewhere out east they are paying $7.50 for a pack of smokes. That is just unreal. Glad I dropped the habit.

Old CR Goat? How you doing, man? You get that habit stomped?

Try this figure out what you would have spent daily for your smokes. In RI, it is about 5$ a pack. If you were a pack a day smoker, take 5$ every day and religiously place it in a coffee container (or something like that).
  • 1 week = 35$
  • 2 weeks = 70$
  • 1 month = 140$
  • 1 year = 1680$

 I wonder how you're gonna pay for all those new hop up parts and bike supplies?:)
Nice going guys!

And don't forget the food! Stuff that i thought was delicious while I was a smoker now tastes like crap, and vice versa.

$7 a pack! The first pack of smokes I bought was 52 cents, and I bought them at the VA hospital where I worked as an admissions clerk. Smoked them at my desk, too. . .IN THE FREAKIN' HOSPITAL! :scream:

Hang in there guys. I quit almost 4 months ago after a 30 year "career". Used Zyban and patches (prescribed by Dr.). He told me to reward myself so I bought a new F150 4wd absolutely loaded with all the goodies. Feels great.
