i want to get into racing motocross??

Hi, im about 6'1 240 pounds. i really want to start racing, what type of bike should i get. i am currently learning how to ride on my cousins honda 450f. but looking for a 250. not sure about 2 or 4 stroke yet. hopefully a honda thought, any help, i'd appreciate it. thanks.

You are to big for a 250f. You will give a suspension guy headaches on the 250 2 stroke or 450f. A 500 would be better. Unless you see dropping 40 - 60 pounds. And you did not fill out the questionnaire? How old, blah, blah,,.

450 will pull you just nicely. You would need at the least heaver springs. But I have to ask you what have you been riding?

i've been riding a honda crf450. and yes i am looking to drop weight cause someone else said it would be a good idea to get down to 215.

Im 6'4" 235lb. and ride a 08 YZ250F. It does have 450F springs and it has no porblem pulling the weight.

Exactly :cool:

As a new rider you will be much better served with a 250F. If you can't go fast on it it won't be the bike's fault.

Someone who is "learning to ride" has no business on a 50hp dirtbike, especially on a race track. :yikes:

so it would be better for me to get a yamaha 250, instead of the honda?? it's gonna be my first bike so i wanna make sure i get the right one.

Both the Honda and the Yamaha 250 four-strokes are excellent bikes. Pick the one you like, that will be the "right one". Then just go ride. ;)

I got the Yamaha because it was the one I was most comfy on and they don't have the valve issues I heard the Honda does.
