ico magnet problems

I have an older ico speedo, odo. I bought the trick EE pickup
and mounted it in brake caliper hanger on my GG 300. Real
smoothe. The problem is that the magnet from the older unit
will not work or function the odo-speedo, WHEN MOUNTED. I
can remove the magnet from the bracket that is atached to
the rotor and waive it buy the sensor and it works fine. This seems odd to me. Anyone got an idea???????? Thanks Tad

The magnet is too far away from the sensor.
On my SE 250 I had to drill a bigger hole (half way through) where the sensor screws in.
This positions the sensor closer to the magnet.
