Hello all...

On my '97 CR500 the idle screw (doubles as the choke) is turned waaaaaay up. I mean it's almost to the top, so that when I try to pull the choke it doesn't really go up much.

The bike seems to run ok.. it doesn't seem to idle well (but I don't want to turn the idle up anymore. The mid range and top end are fine.

I'm thinking that the pilot jet and or the air screw need some attention. But for me the question is... do I need a smaller pilot jet? (I am leaning towards yes on this one).

The air screw is 2 turns out now and from what I can find that is where is 'should' be for a well tuned motor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rod

I'm pretty sure that turning up your idle on your carb richens the mixture. That would mean you would need a richer jet.
