find a nice yz250 or cr250 you should be able to get an 03 and older wit that cash youll appreciate the two stroke after you see how easy it is to work on them

Not really just that i have no experiance with dirt bikes.
Good advice above, start out with a 2000-2003 2 stroke of any color.

I probably have a bit more experience but im still pretty new skill wise. I can ride my 125 like I stole it but my 250 is my pride and joy and has a wow factor I just love. I think you could learn at a quicker rate with a 125 just because its more forgiving. A good 125 rider can whoop up on an average 250 guy any day. I still like to ride mine when trying new things out and what not. I am in your similar position and have both types of bikes, Hope this helps

BTW, for $2500 you can get a sick 125 and have money to spare or a pretty decent 250 for that much.

Ok thanks guys. so i decided to go with a yz250. I've serached around and found two that i really like and am going to look at them on tuesday of next week.:yeehaw:

One of them is a 2001 yz250 the guy said that it was his race bike and has a new top end 0 hours on it, boysen reeds, new chain and sprockets, but needs new tires. And he is asking $1900 for it.

The other is a 2003 yz250 all stock with about 30 hours on the motor and it was owned by a old man who just rode around his ranch. He is asking $1500.

I know its not alot of info about the bikes and i still need to ride them. But would you guys rathere buy one that is stock and a little newer or one that has been raced but has a new top end.
