i'm not skeered. 37 years young. Most of the guys that have posted to this thread are from the late 20's to late 40's or older or maybe younger but right in there somewhere.

Yes, Petra is a gal and so is GETMETOCA. Over the years we have had several ladies join us on our rides. Feel free to join us. We have a lot of fun and we make sure everyone gets back to their truck. We've never lost anyone yet. Well, we almost lost elk once but, that's a whole other story. :rotfl:

And YES. Is is much easier to be a man and I thank God every day for that. :nod:

Oh, and one more thing. We don't have the tutu anymore. Some how or another elk wound up with it and he won't give it up. Said something about having to have it washed because he got some stains on it. :yikes: Now, we don't even want it back.

I am working on getting my truck (Transmission is dying on my old one, it can't be trusted to come out of 'park' let alone tow something) and hopefully I can get it this this week or the next, and then ROADTRIP :).
Speaking if which, what are your guys' thoughts on a Rav4 towing capabilities? Says 3500 lb capacity. They made them a bit bigger this year, too.

I think 3500 lbs would give a Rav4 fits and a little scary. The thing about tow vehicles in SoCal, you cant get out of town without pulling a hill.

I'd agree with JWW. anything to avoid pulling a trailer. I pack all the kids bikes in an F150 just to avoid that hassel. This is just my .02, but a rav 4 with a ttr250 on the back in a rack scares me. Are there any mini trucks you find appealing?

I liked the rav4 for the gas mileage among other things. They're supposed to be bigger this year. I am not sure what a mini truck is..?

Oh, and it's a TTR 230, not 250, if that makes any difference in weight/size.

A bike rack will work with any car/truck/SUV that can take a class 3 hitch.

The Rav4 can do it!

LOL Not after I stab you, you won't. :laugh: with a butter knife.

It may take me a while to get there, what with the stopping, and windexing the truck every few miles. Can't have it get dusty, the luster will go away ;) I'm at a point now, where, you know, I park far away in parking lots, so noone touches it.. or walks by it.. or looks at it too intently LOL I guess I'll give it 8 more hours and see if that'll change.

joehauler makes a decent hitchmount bike rack. it has a cam in the hitchmount part that you tighten with a crescent wrench to eliminate the side to side shimmy of many hitchmoounted bike racks. This will instill confidence when traveling at high speeds to get to the non dusty riding areas. weighs about 50 pounds and is not to difficult to use.

I have used the MotoJackRack for about 6 years on the back of my 4Runner. Works well no complaints.
The only problem you will run into is the clearance between your bikes tires and the road surface. I had some air shocks installed for the rear. If the truck is loaded with just a bike, I was fine, but when I pack a weekend's worth of campling gear and the bike, driving the truck down a bumpy road would result in the bike hitting the ground.
Also changing your RAV4 stock suspension really screws up a nice comfy ride.
