Im going to the glamis dunes for new year and was wondering if a 10 paddle would be ok to run on my 00' kx250? Or will a 10 scoop instead of the normal 8 scoop just make my bike slower out there? any 250 riders have experience with a 10 scoop on a 250?

Bike specs....
-00' kx250
-PC pipe
-Shorty PC silencer
-Reeds

I agree with FJ, 10 is too many. I have 8's on both of my 250s and they work great.

Planing on some fun for new years?

I run 10 on my 500, I have never ran it in the sand dunes, but I race it in the sand/dirt drags. I'm curious how an 8 tire would be better than the 10? Could be some valuable data for my tune up.
Thanks

Wait....wene i bought my cheng shin paddle, The guy at the MX shop said that I would have alot more fun with the 10 paddle because it will get alot better grip? I mean 2 more paddles cant have that much effect on a 250, especially a newer one like mine?

I made this posr because I'm getting mixed reactions, because some people are saying that they have a 10 paddle tire on there 250 and they love it, and others are saying that a 10 is too many paddles and my bike will just bog the whole time???

Can someone give me the truth here....???

Well going off what my friends and I do, we run 8 paddles on the 250s (’01 YZ, ’95 CR and 99 CR) and put the 10 paddle on the KX500. While I’m sure a 250 could run a 10 paddle tire I’d stick with the 8 paddles on the 250s. But if you already got a 10 paddle I don’t think there’s going to be any huge problems running it on the 250. Most concerns stem from that fact that riding deep sand puts a heavy load on the engine, even if you just run knobbies. (I did for a year before I put a paddle on, what a difference that made!) Having two more paddles on the tire will strain the engine more, but I’m not sure if it’s going to make you move any faster over the sand.

I run a 10 paddle on my 250. You get a little more grip especially when the sand is really loose. You do have to shift and use the clutch more often though because of the reduced wheel slippage.
