I posted this on the General Discussions board and came up empty. There was a famous photo of Jimmy Weinert with his handlebar stuck in some guys mouth. Does anyone know is this photo posted anywhere?
I would really like to see it again!
Thanx

Your very welcome. I'm not sure why I deserve the vote of confidence, but I appreciate it.

Do you want to ask Hunk, or should I?

I have been to Ricks website, but he don't know me from the man in the moon. If you have any rapport with him, yes, please ask.
You get the vote of confidence because a guy with a website like yours obviously has much more web experience than I.
Thanx

How about like in 78or 79 when he showed up at a sand track with a paddle tire and smoked [and roosted] everyone, then the AMA changed the rulebook and said no more paddle tires?

I got some mis-information that actually led me to the correct information.

The picture was shot by Charlie Morey it appeared in Cycle News West.

More to come, stay tuned.:)

OK, I can't wait so here it is...

An email from Charlie Morey (he said I could post it)

Hi, Wes!

I have the negative around here somewhere - it's the exact 'WHERE' that's a
mystery at the moment. =8-)

I took that picture of Jimmy Weinert slamming Tony DiStefano at a National
MX somewhere in Ohio in the late '70s. At the time, I was bummed; I knew it
would be a cool picture, but I accidently sent the roll of film to CYCLE
NEWS/West instead of taking it back to Georgia with me to CYCLE NEWS/East,
where I worked at the time. Anyhow, they wound up using on the cover, and we
had to settle for others at CN/E. We were pretty competitive between the two
editions.

One of the projects I hope to complete before the end of this year, is to
search through all my old MX negatives and get the best ones digitized on a
CD. Then, I'll put up a photo gallery of vintage MX (Brad Lackey, Jimmy
Weinert, Kent Howerton, Roger DeCoster, Joel Robert and all those other old
guys) on the web. At the time, some of them were used as t-shirt designs,
and one even formed the basis for a Scott USA logo (the Lackey cross-up).

If you're interested, watch for it here:
http://www.cyberpresspublishing.com/. The MX gallery will be in a format
similar to the ones there now.

Or later (no site there yet) here: http://www.digitalphotography.tv (hope to
have this one functioning as a real photography ezine/business by early
2002). If you like, you can sign up to receive the DPTV Ezine on CYBERpress
now (that way you'll definitely get notice when the MX photos go up):
http://www.cyberpresspublishing.com/dp/.

If you're patient, you can catch a quick glimpse of the Weinert/DiStefano
photo on this page of my old resume site (made it in 1996):

http://home.earthlink.net/~cmorey/specs.html

There's a gif animation at the bottom of the page, and after you see
everything from my baby pictures to a close-up of my eyeballs, you'll
finally get to view the moto photo.

Thanks for your email and the kind words about Dirt Rider!

Take care,
Charlie Morey

Alright Wes!!! Thats the one! I thought it was DiStefano, but wasn't sure enough to say it.
It was all the talk about Brown that got me thinking about that old photo. Back then racing meant that you had to eat a handlebar now and then!
Lets hear it for Wes!
For he's a jolly good fel-low,

I hear tell, that Charlie Morey has located the original negative of the "Weinert/Distefano slam-dance moto-photo." Charlie is making the first print right now!

The track in question was Mid Ohio Motorsports Park they used to have Trans AMA events there as well as a National. Growing up near there I had a chance to see all the legends of the sport in there prime. Those were the days, some of the best racing I have ever seen and all on a natural terrain track.
