Just Appreciating The DRN Connection ....

I just met Karna and Justin (of Karna&Justin) and Mimi (Firelilly) this past Sunday as we met up to ride out at Carnegie. Not only did I meet these great people, but I met some of their family members and they in turn got to meet the friends that I normally ride with. We had a good-sized group going there, and I sure hope you all had as much fun as I did!!

I think the catalyst for this meet up was the upcoming Ladies Riding School in Oregon. Turns out 5 of the women attending the school live right here in the area, so it made sense for all of us to get together and meet and do some riding and broaden our social horizons. A few emails, a few phone calls and it all came together!

Karna and Mimi - you are both awesome riders and although I couldn't keep up with you, Jen sure seemed to get a lot out of being pushed past her limits. That big smile on her face said a lot.

Mimi, your boyfriend Buddy is terrific and I really appreciated him letting me ride around with he and his three great kids while the rest of you were up in the hills riding the knarly stuff. I'm glad he talked me into going back up that one hill I looped on last week because I was avoiding it altogether.

Karna, it did not get past me that everytime we headed in one direction or another, you went straight for the rockiest, most obstacle strewn path you could take. Sure hope I find your confidence one day! I'm glad I got to at least SEE your trials bike in your garage when I picked you up in the morning, but you know we all really want to see you demonstrate it....and BTW, you were a good sport about Greg nick naming you "Karna Sutra".

At the end of the day, I was contemplating the fact that if it were not for the DRN connection, I might not have met you guys, nor your family members. I had so much fun, it would have been a loss to have missed out on this day!

Wow! sounds like you had fun. We drove sixty miles to Buckhorn ohv park and found a great big sign that said "Closed until May30." MAY 30th??? I almost cried. It was like hearing that Disneyland burned down!

Thank you for the invitation and your persistance in getting yesturday organized! It isn't just DRN that got us together, finally! The food was to die for...never would have expected such a deliciously catered meal during a moto break. My idea of a moto lunch is a half-eaten, not to mention stale power bar and a warm, completely unidentifiable turkey sandwich. Oh , yah and usually I am out of water so it all gets taken in with nothing to wash it down. I will take fried chicken, chinese chicken salad, foccacia bread, swiss cheese, crackers and pineapple-shrimp cole slaw out of a cooler over my norm anytime! You should start your own catering business!

Oh, and BTW, I don't remember saying that that hill wasn't steep :D In fact, I recall you saying yourself that it wasn't that bad after you charged it again and didn't even stop for a breath. Now, next time I expect you to go right up the black diamond, whooped out, never-ending hill that you showed me!

I had so much fun and can't wait to ride with you again! Just keep in mind that all my "confidence" comes from the (limited) 2 and 1/2 year of experience that I have in the saddle. Don't worry, you are already ahead of the game! And after Oregon? Oh, boy, WATCH OUT! But seriously, you have the right attitude to ride with! You are out to have fun and meet new people...how much better could it get?

Thanks for taking the time away from the family to give me a Carnegie tour. Maybe next time we can check out some of those black diamond trails that looked so fun!

Wow, It seems that I missed something very important!
I should have stayed with you guys whole time and joined Natalie's wonderful catering party.....

Natalie and Karna, thank you so much for inviting me for this fun meeting.
I was so happy when I was saying to Buddy "Can I go riding with the GIRLS?" And of course, he was happy for me to have female riding buddies.

Karna, I finally got a chance to ride with you after we met in Wild Piglet Family Enduro in March. You are a great rider. Although you looked little worried without Justin, you ride so good that you can just hit any hills or any trails you spot! You don't need a tour anymore.

Jen, I was amazed when you disappeared from my sight on that rocky hill. I think you have challenger's spilit and will be able to improve your skill very quickly. I have to work hard to catch up with you.

Natalie, thank you again for thinking of me and my family. Next time let's ride more together. And I certainly would like to try your wonderful lunch!
