Hey guys i had a post a few days ago about sticking a kx250 crank in a kdx 250 , i hate to buy it and it not work out some how if possible i would like to get some more opinions on this the one im looking at is a hot rods crank fits model years 92-02 i think, any other opinions would be great or if anyone may know where i can get a crank for a 91-94 kdx 250 that is good it would be wonderful i cant find any aftermarket ones thanks :bang:

yea it can but they want 150 to just change the pin and rod plus price for parts it just seems high to me i am thinking of trying to take it to my work and just do it myself thanks fo rthe info

$150 is not a bad price. The parts are around $100 and labor for $50. Someone has to pay for the 30 ton press and truing jig, dial gauges, stands, etc. Most folks don't usually have such tools laying around, but if you do, then congratulations and good luck. :-)

well i meant it was 150 and thats me taking them the parts so total would be about 250 im gonna give it a shot and see what happens live and learn i guess ill update ya if it works and well if it flys apart then im screwed

Do you have all the tools?? Do you have the service manuals?? How do you plan to rebuild a crankshaft otherwise? It is a high precision job which requires a high level of skill and craftsmanship.

I think that rebuilding a crankshaft is the most difficult maintenance task possible on a KDX. I suggest you leave it to an expert. Otherwsie, do you do combined shipping on your e - Bay (parting out a KDX250) auctions?

yes i have all the tools, i work in a bridge fabricating shop with manual presses the whole nine yards it can be done , aside it takes confidence in working on these sort of things i understand the risk but taking the time to do it right it will work out ok , yea i will combine shipping lol,,, :nener:

dude would your really install a used crank in a motor? That is just asking for trouble.

Just think of all the work it takes to get there. You want to do that again anytime soon? Rebuild the crank or if you get a used one, rebuild it before installing. Common sense

DUDE, read a little better it is going to be rebuilt, and to go ahead and play it safe i found a local bike shop that will rebuild it for 80 to 100 bucks thats me supplying the parts
