KDX engine in KX frame??????

I have a 1986 KDX 200 that I use for trail riding. I have an opportunity to pickup a 1987 KX 125 rolling chassis cheap. It has front and rear disc brakes which would be a huge improvement over the KDX rear drum. Has anyone ever tried putting a KDX engine in a KX frame? I thought it would make a lighter, better handling trail bike. I could also swap out some of the parts. Any thoughts? Thanks

It's been done many times. I'm not sure I've seen it done with two bikes that old, but it should be quite easy to manage, and you will be pleased with the end result I'm sure. You will probably have to do some amount of welding/fabricating to finish it up.
