Key West

Has anyone been to Key West, Florida? My girlfriend wants to go there for vacation. I would like some first hand comments before we decide to go there. Thanks!

Great place! Duvall street is a nightly party to check out and Mallory pier at sunset is fun.

I have been there during Bike Week and Spring Break.

Can you say PARTY?

Great party place. I go there a couple of times a year. Hit Hog's breath, and Sloppy Joes for good music. Try a sunset cruise. The G/F will love that.
Be aware that there are a lot of, umm, alternative lifestyle persons down there, not that there's anything wrong with that.;)

Are we going to find tropical beaches there?

Typical south Florida beaches. Not your white, sugar sand Carribean beaches. A little more Itchy 'n Scratchy. ;)

But its not that big of a deal (at least during bike week and spring break), except for that 'all ladies' bar I accidently walked in one time :scream:

NO!! The Keys are made up of coral reef islands. All the beaches are course, crushed coral. Not nice soft tropical sand type beaches.

So the beaches are not sand. Is the water (ocean) clear and tropical looking like a brochure picture? And Hogwylde, is a 500 cc motor really necessary?;)

If the Islands attract the same type of people as the Gulf around Tampa look out for those fat old guys in their Speedo's! :scream:

I haven't been down there since 1988 and I don't think my eyesight will ever recover!

BTW, I think I can answer for Hogwylde in his absence YES, a 500cc motor IS necessary!!!;)

Water's not bad. I think it's a little nicer further up near Islemarada, or Key Largo. Better diving, anyway. Still, not carribean blue.

I am starting to feel like I asked MXA what they think about a CR:it is ok but you really want a Yamaha! The Keys are ok but not like the Carribean! Do I need to transfer some of the dirt bike $ to the vacation fund and go Jamaica or Puerto Rico?

I think that would be sacrilegious! Spending dirtbike funds on anything non dirtbiking? :think

Shhhhhhh, Bbbom, don't screw this up! I am trying to gain points with my girlfriend. Anyway, I drained the dirtbike fund yesterday on a top end rebuild kit.
