Well -

I have a boo-boo. And I did on my bike. Yep, those bicycles are dangerous, I tell ya.... ;)
I was fartin' around on my 20" bike last Tuesday and I bailed on a wheelie I was riding and when my right leg hit the pavement - SNAP! My knee bent in a direction that it is not designed to.

So I am now waiting on my MRI - but so far I do know that my MCL is torn and possibly the ACL too. Not the best way to start off spring. The Doc drained 60cc of fluid off my knee Wednesday and put me in a brace as well as hooked me up with some happy pills. The pills aren't working 'cuz I ain't happy. :|

Sigh...

Jeff, that is terrible! I think we need to get Nephron to change specialities and be a sports med. Doc. We could put him on retainer with DRN and give him high priority with the DRN Jet. Keep us posted!

That's the problem right there. The average adult is not made to fit on a 20 in frame. I think I out grew the 20's when I was like 12. Hope you heal up ok, man.

Bummer , I HATE the knee needle when they drain it. Hoope the MCL is all and you'r back up soon. (BTW you can ride wihtout a ACL been doing it for a year and a half, don't wanna take enough time off to get it fixed.)

That just sucks Jeff. I hope the kids thought it looked cool. Hate to think that you're going through all of this for something that they laughed and pointed at you over.

Thanks for all the kind words. After a staffing snafu at the Doc's office (the girl in charge of scheduling MRI's was in fact NOT doing her job) :pissed: I was able to go and get my MRI done more than 1 week later. I have the pics, but honestly don't have a clue what it I am looking at. I'll be taking my MRI pics over to the Doc today. More to come... (still hoping it is only a torn MCL).

Good news or so it appears...

Here is what the PA was able to determine from the MRI:
MCL is torn to hell (we knew this, it heals w/out surgery)
ACL is stretched w/ some slight tears, but appears slight enough that surgery should not be req'd :)
My bones are bruised from the impact
The maniscus is damaged, but should heal with time.

It also looks as if I'll get a 'script for some knee braces. Billy - I'll be in touch hopefully soon ;)

This info is all from the PA - the Doc is out this week, but I have a consultation on the 18th. I'll take this news as a good beginning and breathe a sigh of relief.

Not so quick there...
The PA and the Doc have differing views. Guess which one counts?

Per the MRIs - I did tear my ACL. It is no longer attached to the femur. That is an "un-good"
My MCL is torn, but that will heal.
My maniscus will have to be scoped.

The plan is this -
scope my maniscus and then do a ACL repair using ligament from my patella.

This is NOT the news I wanted. On the up side, I will be getting some braces, but what a price to pay....

:(
