I have a 02 ktm 400exc. Its a great bike, but the seat is as hard as the rear fender. Is there a aftermarket SOFT seat foam? I would like to buy a entire seat.I like the stock seat hight. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

The first thing I did to my 98 200E/XC (aside from jetting) was to replace the
seat foam. I went to my local dealer we could not find a complete after market seat. I put on softer foam and a gripper cover. The seat foam
was from Ceet I think. MUCH BETTER:)

Almost every company that sells aftermarket covers, also sells replacement foam. they make standard, tall, soft, hard etc. Personally, I love the KTM seats. I have since rode a few bikes with soft seats and cant stand them, they just feel wrong, like I dont have as much rider input when I am sinking into the seat... Besides the seat feeling better to me, the ergos are nicer on the KTM, and I feel comfortable standing all day.

I drilled a bunch of 1" holes in mine to soften it up. They do break in after awhile. Trust me once you get used to it you'll never want a soft seat again.

Email me if you want some info on drilling the holes!!

If you get a softer seat then you'll wanna sit down more. If you must sit try sitting on just one ass cheek it feels much better.

I have a Enduro Engineering tall/hard seat that is at least 20 times softer than my stock seat(go figure) I would think that their standard/hard would be about the same. I think the seat cover design has something to do with the lack of comfort. Of course I never use my seat while riding, its just there for............. looks :)

Just a thought.

I ditto Jeff. I took a class this weekend from Dick Burleson and Gary Hazel (owner of Thumper Racing). Both of them had "Guts" seats on their bikes. Don't get me wrong here, I'm not trying to be a poser. I sat on the bike Burleson was riding ( the bike is actually Lumpy's bike, Thumper Racing YZF 270 or 290 I can't recall), too short, but very foam and a great seat cover. Hazel's bike was a Thumper racing KTM 450,WWWOOOOWWW!!! what a bike. Hazel had tall seat foam on his bike, more my size. Also very nice. Not too hard, not too soft, just right. You ought top talk to them. I think they have 3 or 4 different foam densities.

Just a side note that may be a interest. Both of these bikes were coming from a Dirt Bike mag. test. I would love to own either one of the beauties.
