KTM65sx jumps out/into gear

Hi there,

Can anyone HELP!!!

When the bike has been kicked over and is idling it jumps into gear and stalls. Also, when running about it jumps out of gear into false neutral.

What year? I know the early bikes did have some transmission issues.

It's a '99'model, the 3rd/4th gear has been replaced a couple of months ago. There is a lot of play in the shift lever (up/down) before it changes gear on the selector drum location device. I'm starting to think that the shift slide may be worn. I'm taking off the clutch case today.

I'm pretty sure that was the year the transmission issues were a big factor. It sounds like it needs to come apart.

You have to make sure that the pin on the clutch cover is positioned correctly on the shift lever spring. If the pin is not between the spring ends, then there will be a lot of play at the shift lever.

Double check to see if this is the case. Easier than splitting cases again.

With the updated 3rd/4th gear, you shouldn't have too many problems with the transmission. Would have recommend upgrading the shifting drum while you had it apart.
