KX-100, how many links for a 428 O-ring?

I need to purchase a chain/sprocket kit for my son's 2003 KX-100. The stock gearing is; front-15T, rear-49T, 420x124 links.

The previous owner installed a 428 chain. Assuming the 428 links are slightly longer, wouldn't I need less links?

Does anyone know how many links I should order for the 428 O-ring chain with the stock gearing(sprockets)?

The pitch length on the 428 is identical to the 420. The "4" indicates that the chain is of a 40 series, or 1/2" pitch length.
