I have both a kx250 and a kx100 and I love them both. I am 5'10 about 215 lbs. and the 100 has plenty of power to play with. I am sure the bike is not ment to carry me but it does it just fine. Just for kicks a friend and I lined up the kx100 againt his polaris 500 ( 4 wheeler ) and we had a drag race across a field about 150 to 200 yards. I gave him 3 and the break and still ran him down.

The KX100 is kinda small. I'm 5'9" and "weigh" to many lbs. , but my kid's KX100 feels TINY to me. Still, it is a great little bike. You might want to think about a 125 though, especially if you are still growing up, or out.

At your height and weight I would recommed going with a 125. Not that you couldnt ride a KX 100 but in the long run the 125 will be better and last you longer.

I'm 5'4", 140 and I'd probably be more comfortable on the 100. But, I wanted a full size bike and I wanted to race 125 classes so I went with the 125.

I think a KX 100 is about 34 inches at the seat. 125's are usually 36-37 inches. You can lower a 125 a 1/2 inch to an inch by cutting the seat foam. You can lower another 1/2 inch to an inch by cutting the subframe.

you should be fine. a 125 will fit you, most of my friends I ride with have yz's, ktm 125's, cr's, Their about your size maybe a little taller. I grew up riding quads, so last year was my first on dirtbikes, and I jsut picked up kdx 200... fun to work on and fun to ride.As long as you know how to ride, go with w/e, a 125 sounds right, yet we have fun ripping around on 85s n 100 2 smokes.

Kx 100

Your weight suggests you'd be better off on a 125. However, you are 5' 5" which is going to be a little short for the 125, especially if you plan to ride tight or tough trails. You might want to consider a Kawasaki or Suzuki 125. An outfit called "Koubalink" makes lowering links for those two bikes that bring the seat height down approx. 1 3/4 inches. That way, you'll have the 125 ponies to haul you around but the bike will work better for you with the lowered seat height.
I did the same thing with a KX 85 for my 9 year old and it has worked out great. Next year when he's an inch or so taller, we'll put the stock link back in and the bike will fit him great again. ;)

I would just get a used kx100. Yes your weight says that you could ride a 125 smoker or even a 250 smoker for that matter but in the end, unless you are racing, it does not matter. I have a kx250 and a kx100 and I enjoy the 100 as much as the 250. I am 5'10 and 215lbs and the 100 will pull the front tire in 1st thru third. Just 4 fun, I would rather ride the 100. Test each. I bought a used 04 100 in great shape for $1700 from a dealership. You should be able to do better than that. Good luck

honestly man, i'd go for whatever you think you would really get more use out of...i am 5'6 148 lbs. and i bought a brand new 04' cr85 expert (same size as the kx100) 2 summers ago, i was about an inch shorter then i am now then, and i was looking at the same options, either an 85, 100, or 125, i picked the 85 expert cause it's the same as the 100 size wise, but i just like honda, and how the bike felt. I thought i would be to uncomfortable on a 125, so i'd wait a little, and just settle for something smaller. I tore it up on the 85, and i still fit it fine and i have a blast. I mean, it is easier to control, being smaller and all, but the 125 will be the same after awhile of getting use to it. Try them both out, and think more of the future, either way man, good luck, and you can either raise or lower the suspension on either bikes....

You don't need the kouba link - again, I'm 5'4", 140 and haven't done anything to the RM. As noted, you can cut the seat if you want to shorten it an inch - then if you grow you can buy replacement seat for for like $35+shipping on E B A Y.

05KX125.... promise not to hijack this thread, but...
I bought a 03KX125 with 8 hours on it yesterday. Like new. Can you offer any tips for this model? Any gotcha's that come to mind?
Thanks!
