KYB=Kayaba?

Might sounds like a stupid question, but was simply out of shear curiosity and ignorance. I know the manufacturer of my fork on my 2000 KX125 is "KYB" according to spreadsheets and even an engraving in my upper fork tubes. Is KYB synonymous with the shock and fork company Kayaba?
