LaRocco update

Amsoil/Dr. Martens/Journeys Factory Connection Honda rider Mike LaRocco was involved in an accident at EA SPORTS Supercross at Minneapolis on Saturday and will require surgery to repair his injured wrist. According to post-event medical reports, LaRocco suffered an acute dislocation of the lunate (a joint in the wrist) and some possible ligament and tendon damage. He is expected to have surgery within the next two days.

"We're extremely disappointed by the incident surrounding Mike's injury on Saturday," said Factory Connection owner Rick Zielfelder. "Mike was having one of his best year's on record. But Saturday he was at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Heading into Minneapolis, LaRocco was in second place overall in the 250cc points chase.

From MotoNews:

From the officical SX doc:

I was watching the surgery and the wrist seemed quite stable from a
ligamentous point of view and no surgery on the ligaments was
required. The arthroscopic part of the surgery did show soom
cartilage injury which cleaned up nicely. He will need approximately
3 months of casting/splinting before riding again. The wires holding
the bones in the wrist immobile will come out in six weeks.

3 months of casting and splinting! Man, that's a long time, especially when rehab/strenght and conditioning time is added in. It sure looks like it will roll into the Nationals.

"We're extremely disappointed by the incident surrounding Mike's injury on Saturday," said Factory Connection owner Rick Zielfelder. "Mike was having one of his best year's on record. But Saturday he was at the wrong place at the wrong time."

Doesn't sound like they are buying into the "That's Racing" line of reasoning.

:( :ugg: :( :(

Ouch. I know what that feels like... and it looks like THIS.

He'll be out for at least 3 months.

And he was doing so well. :whiner:
