Went to the ridge on Saturday with the kids. All I can say is the riding was great. No dust and plenty of traction, although the soil got pretty soft after a few riders passed along the trails. Even with all the forecasted rain, this coming weekend should allow for some good riding as long as it stops by Thurday.

Hmm... Sounds like fun. Can anyone tell me how to get there from Bakersfield? Right now there's about a 75% chance I can make it.

Placelast, wana head on over to Bako and car pool with me?

Check and see if the 395 is closer to you, which I think it is, and take that down. Just before you come to the end, near the 15 freeway in Phelan, you'll see Phelan Road. Make a right and go about 7 miles till you cross under the large power lines, you should see a big bus plant on the left side as well. make a left at that road, forgot the name, Wagon something I think. Take that about a mile till it ends, you'll see the staging area to your left. Park there, set up BBQ near truck, unload and ride.

Sounds like you guys go in up above the ridge. I went in at the 138/15 on Saturday and had a good ride. Dirt was the best and some mud for sure. Found a nice valley single track approx. 3 miles down the ridge road going west. The first section looked like a supercross whoop section, but the trail was nice after that. Just me and fresh tracks. Spoke with the Ranger too, and he indicated that the Upper SBNF trails would be closed till Dec 2003 and not open in March. So much for spring time mountain trail riding.

Someone let us know the final plan and directions, please.

Thanks

Oldandslo, I guess I'm a bit slow today. Isn't the present year 2002?

As I was packing to leave Sat, The same ranger that said the Trails at Lake ArrowHead / fawnskin would be closed till DEC.2004 (got it right that time); checked my bike for spark arrestor. At the same time a guy on a KX250 with no spark arrestor never even got a second look.

I was bummed Gorman was a wash due to rain. I spent all day Saturday working on my bike, not to mention 2 trips to the Yamaha daeler, one to Pit Pro, and one to Cycle Gear. But now at least I'm ready to go riding, and Phelan sounds like the place to be. Hopefully I can find the place.

I'm in for sure. Do we all want to meet at the McDonalds at the 15 & 138 or maybe the Pilot gas station at the 15 & 395?

Someone pick a time and place.

Are we doing the burger thing again?

Will I need an Adventure Pass (A State fee to park my State Registered truck to ride my State Taxed State Green Sticked Motorcycle running State Taxed Fuel, all purchased with my State Taxed money. :flame: )

Bitter, no, I'm just glad that this wonderful state allows me to purchse some freedom and has regulations for my protection but still allows those 50 kids to ride smoking screaming noise polluting gas scooters up and down my residential street all day. Sorry for getting off topic, just finished my income taxes *L*. Anyone else ready to start throwing Tea into the harbor again?

What time is everyone going to meet?

Dingoe, you planning to show up?

"a guy on a KX250 with no spark arrestor" I know you guys are all staring at me for this one :moon: but in my defense I still have the spark arrestor mounted on the bike. Dingoe you must be mistaken on the color and type of bike. Surely a green rider wouldnt be riding in the hills without a spark arrestor. Im thinking it was someone on a blue bike.

How does 8:30 at the Pilot gas station at the 15 & 395 sound? No advenute pass required for where we are going to park.

You are not alone Deano, tax time is never good for me.

Works for me, I just have to leave my house by 6:00.

This will probably be my last chance to ride before the Wild Boar, so it's worth the drive to get some good riding in!

Piliot at 8:30 works for me. I'll be heading out at 5:30am. Anybody else from the San Diego area going?
It also looks like I need to find a S/A for the son's husky, any ideas?

Tree - Sparky slip-on. About $60 at your local dealer. If you can't get one in your area let me know and I'll check out the situation in this area.

If all goes well I'm in. Just getting over the flu, been in bed for the past two days and it looks like I've got to work Friday to cover the time off work today. I was hoping to run up to Carpinteria Friday. All the way from N. SDCO, 3-4 hrs I'd assume. It looks like it will be Saturday now and that puts me getting back late then repacking to leave at 5:50-6:00am Sun. My wife will love this weekend schedule. Me gone both days doing bike stuff, not to mention buying yet another bike (2-stroke Husky Wr360) with our (her) money.

If I do though, I"ll have two bikes in the van. Can get a true 2-stroke/4-stroke test and maybe even decide which one to sell.

395/15 8:30, I'm planning on it. White chevy van if I make it.

Tree, If your down south check GP's (downtown?) they are a Husky dealer or Ron Bishops in Escondido.
