Looking for aftermarket XR70 Swingarm and shock

If anyone knows of an aftermarket company that makes a swingarm and shock to fit the 03 XR70, the information would be greatly appreciated. A week long of leaving messages and doing searches turned up nothing. The stock swingarm broke and the shock bent under the forces of my 52 lb son! I do not wish to buy another stock one and repeat this process.

Thanks

Thanks for your response KAWDUDE. I sent e-mails to both of your suggestions but neither one of these advertise any of these components for the XR70! For the XR50's there are lots of options out there. The two are not the same or even close. The 70 is longer. (I have both bikes)

BBR does make a swingarm for the XR 70. I dont know about the shock, they make a shock spring. Check works performance shocks. They make all kinds of shocks for anything.

Thanks BIGLOU and SNOWSK5054! I found what I was looking for. Perfect swing arm.

The Sano I-shock seems like it is the one with the most travel............6 inches.

If your 52 pound son broke the swingarm and bent the shock on an '03 XR-70, I'd be calling your dealer and their Honda rep about filing a warranty claim. My 70 pound kid rode an XR-70 for two years without any problems, although he never jumped it.

Are you sure a 200 pound "big kid" wasn't clearing doubles on that bike?

Hey Smitdog

Promise it wasn't me. The 225 lb big kid plays with his '89 CR 250 chasin after the little ones.........O.K. mom did take the XR out a couple times and she could loose a few if ya know what I mean.........There are no gusset welds and where the shock mounting is on the swingarm, the pipe broke off on one side and the other side folded in till the shock hit the rear tire.

I wasn't aware that there was a difference between the XR50 and 70 swingarms??? I thought the difference was in the motor alone. I apologize if I was wrong.

My buddy has a 70 for his oldest boy, and it has bigger wheels. I'm thinking the 50 swingarm isn't nearly big enough for the larger wheels to clear. I believe the frame and swingarm are just overall bigger. Maybe not on the frame? The motors are identical in outside deminsions, however. (all this from memory, so I could be wrong on one or more counts here...)

You're right. I wasn't thinking. The 70 does have a bigger rim.
Thanks for setting me straight.

I ordered a fox float mxr through a local shop. It has to be specialy ordered tho. And I think some of the swingarms off e--bay will work. And for the front forks all I did for now was but heavier/more fluid in them. But after bbr springs and damping rods they will be up to SP-5 level performance. :ride:

Check out the article in Cycle World (Nov.) on the CRF70 that Doug Toland, Honda employee, former CW staffer, former RR'er, etc., built for his son. No swing arm issues, yet, for him; but he has a Works Perf. shock on it.
