Picked up a used XR70 yesterday and previous owner let it sit for a few years and also could not find the manual.

Can someone tell me what oil and capacity, and what spark plug to get? I will be ordering a manual but would like to do some basics before running it too long. Thanks.

well i just purchased a 2003 xr70 and I did not have the manual,so I just drained the oil into a empty two liter bottle and then mesured it to see the compacity,You probly know to add a little extra oil from the drained. Just use the dipstick. If you find out the exact compasity please tell me =)

Generally the oil capacity is cast or stamped in to the side vase cover near the fill hole. Type of oil? There's a can of worms. Might I suggest something in a 30 or 40 weight, Chevron Delo would be good as would most others such as Castrol, or even inexpensive house brand. For the plug? If it works leave it until you get the manual or pull the one that's in it and see what it is. Chances are high it's the stocker.
