You can make them if you buy real gasket material of the proper thickness. However, by the time you get the material, trace and cut the gaskets out, it probably isn't worth it.

I bought a roll of black, paper type gasket making material. It was around $3.50 at a car parts store. Like you said, I wouldn't use it for head or base gaskets, but I have used it for power valve gakets and the flywheel cover gasket. I can make a ton of gaskets with just one roll.

It isn't a quick and easy job to make them, but it is cheaper.

I say go for it.

The cardboard coloured stuff you get from Repco is ‘orrible. I bought a bunch from some place that has moved so can’t remember the name but it was grey like Honda gskt material.

How bout yamabond or something similar?Would be waaaaaay easier, I've made a couple from a roll and it worked but not worth it unless it's an emergency.
