I'm pretty sure Metzger did have several top ten 125 SX finishes in '96 -'97. He also ran a few rounds of the '01 Australian SX series and had some good results (top ten).

IMO, he won't be up front, but he is going to make some 125 finals and might sneak into the top 10 a few times IF he races the entire season (BIG if).

FMXers

I wanna know what "drn's" problem with fmxer's....they have alot of tattoo piercings etc and the antics to go with it......but who cares I hope
Metz comes back and gets in the mix.The more strong riders we have the better the season with be...I think its jealousy....ride all day, party at nite, make some wacked out videos. And plenty-o-money-o.......Id trade my 8-5er for a little image change....

If FMX'ers make so much money why do we see them trying to come back into SX/MX? Which is one of the lowest paying forms of professional sport mind you. Tat's & holes big deal! I have plenty of friends with the same and more. My hang up with them is that the lifestyle they promote (in general) is not one that I want MY kid following and think most would not. The Metal Morons make the whole sceen a WWF atmosphere and next to a very few participants the rest help support it. Also there is only so many times you can see the no-hander-double nac-nac-nose-picker-backflip-with a twist before it gets to be old news. The scoring is a joke :think (much like WWF) and as a general rule these idiots are the vast majority of what the general public sees a "wrong" with our sport even though they are a miniscule part of the real sport. Can I do what they do? You bet I could. Any chimp can jump on a bike pin it, do some crazy moves and crash. Do I want to? Why would I? My desk job allows me to spend more time with my family doing things other than having them adjust the tension on my pulley that is holding my neck straight.:silly:

Back up a moment...

While some FMXers are bafoons that live to party and ride and basically have zero respect for the sport blah blah blah... (insert any of the metul mulisha goons here)

Trevor Vines does not fall in this category - he is a super nice kid.
Metz doesn't either.

Has anyone here visited Metzger's web site? He is married, has a child, and is a Christian. Sure his antics are crazy and he is a tatted rider, but he gives praise to the allmighty and is not aftraid to hide it.

Check out http://www.metzgermotorsports.com where he states:

Big thanks to the Metz family, all friends and fans worldwide, and GOD. Believe in Christ, all things are possible!

I tend to totally agree with you regarding the metul mulisha - what a bunch of loosers. Within FMX there are a few riders with character. It is a shame that they don't get as much attention as the dorks that do nothing for our sport.

I am personally glad to see Metz coming back. I can't wait to see how he does...

Id pay to see that too.....Just a bar hop is all I ask.....and as far as the WWF comments I guess its your kids generation is the one that made WWF more popular the Monday night football.....Scary.....At least an FMX comp isnt predetermined....what does being christian have to do with him being a good person or a bad person ?

FMX

Hey Patman I'd like to see you hit any of those ramps at the mulisha compound and pull any of the <<Mod Edit (TwinSpar... IF you care to whine): You can fool the censor software with mangled words but it won't get past moderators. Keep in mind that this is a site for members of all ages. I wouldn't want impressionable kids reading/interpreting weak attempts at trying to be clever.>>. The reason why some of those riders chose freestyle is they don't like the factory teams telling them what to do and what to wear, with freestyle they can do what they want and make good money. The mulisha is for riders who want to be themselves.

MTRIDER, Wouldn't you rather see a chimp do it? :think Wait I'm sorry looks like that end of the FMX market has been cornered. My kid doesn't even know what WWF is. Pokemon, dirt bikes, TKD, and soccer are his gig and I think if more parents would do their job instead of letting the TV do it...... I digress.

Read very carefully kids. I didn't NOT say ALL of the FMX crowd, as I am quite aware there are a few (VERY few) that are not circus acts.

Well, I had the opportuinity to hang around Metz, Mike Jones, Bartram, Twitch, Clowers, Vines and a few others while they were doing a contest/filming for Godfrey's next film.

Sure, they have some serious tats, which I don't care for, but sitting with them I found that they have families and are generally nice kids. They seem to have the same qualities that we expose as being a benefit of getting kids to ride dirt bikes with their families.

These guys didn't know me. I was just some flagger for the event. They also didn't care about the contest. They just wanted to ride and jump their bikes. That was a surprise to me. I thought these guys wanted to win and would be upset at anything less. It sure didn't appear that way. They wanted to play on their bikes like the majority of the folks on this site.

I left that day with a different impression of these folks.

One other thing I saw, Mike Cingmars was in town for an autograph sigining at the No-Fear store with MC. When they got their, as they came through the back of the store, there where two kids sitting there with handcuffs and cops. The kids had been caught shoplifting. Cinq stopped and asked the kids what they thought they were doing trying to steal from the store while hoping to see MC? The kids were shocked that he got down on them.

As to FMX in general; judged events always suck in any sport. I'm not sure how long FMX can go on just due to the nature of the bike and ability to keep doing new tricks.

I can't do FMX, and I get a bit bored at exibitions like the US Open, but I respect what these guys can do and realize most of them are really nice guys. But, of course I still respect Leichien and Emig in spite of the troubles that they had.

As to their skill: I'm amazed that they can size up a jump and hit it so consistently so quick. The fact is, without the tricks, these guys are good on their bikes. The tricks are just bonus.

Nothing. Just that most folks are surprised that someone that looks like that is a Christian and proud to admit it.

Given that the bafoons at the mulisha compound tout how they are down with the dark side and take pride in being evil - it is actually nice to see someone like Metz giving his respect to Christ.

Perception is everything. If it wasn't, there would be no mental militia.

I don't think anyone is saying any of the FMX'ers are "bad" people. They are talking about the image they (most) promote. What the general public see's on the surface is what leaves the impression that we (I) don't care for. The typical (ignorant to the sport in general) public, throws me right into the same group as the FMX'ers... Which, by the way does not help one bit with fight to keep public land open.

YES, it does relate. The general (again, ignorant) public hears eco-nazis wanting to close the planet to dirtbikes while an image of some lunatic pierced and tattooed rider ripping the ground up, is in their head... it does not help the cause.

Well stated, Okie. Many people are quick to judge a book by its' cover and many of the FMXers have some wild covers if ya know what I mean. The Crusty videos don't help either with those goofballs wrecking bikes and basically having no regard for anything. :think

Uummm... The mulisha is for riders who want to be themselves? They ALL just happend to want to wear slacker clothes, tatoos and get pierced through any exposed body parts they have? It looks to me like they are all a bunch of weak minded people, conforming to the "non-conformist" look. Like your average modern Harley rider... How "DIFFERENT" is it these days, to have tatoos and wear black clothes? Sounds like following the crowd to me.

First Metzger raced. Then he did freestyle. Then he wanted to try roadracing. Then I saw him doing freestyle again. Now he races supercross again. This man has the attention span of a 2 year old.

A hope and a prayer are all he has against the current crop of 125 riders. He will quit before the season is over, the guy can't see anything through to the finish.

Have you ever seen him quit a FMX competition before it was over? Didnt think so. Props to him for being good at every style of the sport he tries...........How many poeple can say they've done the same?????
FMXers get a bad rap for the clothes they wear and there piercings, but if you've ever hung out with them on a one on one basis, they are some of the nicest people you could ever meet:scream:
