michelin s12 profile

Just purchased a michelin s12 rear tyre,but proir to fitting I noted the profile was very high.It is a 120x 90 x18.I am sure I saw some 120 x 80 x 18 fitted to other kdx's at events recently.
This we mean adjustments to gearing and front end ride height.
Any thoughts?
