I am replacing the tires on my '01 250 EXC, and have decided on a set of S-12's. What size is equivalent to the stock Bridgestone M78 rear which came on the bike? (Can't remember if it was 100/100 or 110/100x18).

The Michelin rear tires only come in 120, 130, and 140, which my dealer informs me are all too large for my bike. Is this so?

Thanks

Karen

The sizing on the michelins is off - they actually put yellow stickers on them with the real size. And I picked up a "fitment guide" that gave you the michelin to real world conversion - e.g. if your bike uses a 110 width tire - buy a 130 width michelin...

A 120 michelin is actually a 100
A 130 michelin is actually a 110
A 140 michelin is actually a 120

I have run the 130 michelin on my xr for years and am now running the 130 on my gasgas ec300. On your 250 I would recommend the same...

The 120 series is not a good tire. It's knobs are much smaller than the 130/140 sizes and the tire wears quickly. I liked the 130's on my 99 250EXC and I like the 140's on my 400EXC.

Cackle, get the 130. The 120 is truely not a tire you want. If you have to go that skinny, get a 100 in some other brand tire.
