Anyone have one of these or any experience with them? Opinions? Need to sell my Accord. Looking into possibly getting a SUV. Thought about a Tahoe because of the 0% interest offer but too expensive.

I don't know much about them, but I remember hearing that Mistubishi guarantees your new car will be worth more than the residual if you lease one. Not sure how much they promise, but that's not bad! I know they look pretty cool if you get the one with all the options like oversized tires, tinted windows, etc.

I was going to get a Tundra a while ago, but then I imported one from Oklahoma, and it came with the added option of a boyfriend. ;)

We already have one. I see no need for 2.

If we end up moving to some place that has that white garbage on the ground for 9 months of the year I definately want a 4x4 SUV! If we end up somewhere with decent weather then I would like to look at the Audis. Yum. :)

You got that right Zio. The fully loaded MS Limited is sweet looking and waaay less than the fully loaded Tahoe which really surprised me.

Understand on the pickup part.

Blazer or Trailblazer? Expedition or Explorer (Exploder!)? Durango? Isuzu Rodeo? For some reason, that Mitsu looks too boxy to me.

But take that for what it's worth, since that new Chevy Avalanche is starting to grow on me! :scream:

Let me get a couple of points in the clear.
1. If the Mitsu is guaranteed to be worth more than the residual (something I have never heard of) then you are paying to much during the lease. The residual is the amount that is subtracted from the purchase price and you pay on the diff. If the car is worth more than you paid too much. You are only getting your own money back and then only if the dealer buys it and applies the overage of money to your next car.

2. Why would you want to buy a vehicle from a company that was covering up problems with their vehicles? This was all the way to the chairman of the company and was reported in the Wall St Journal.

Please...No Mitsubishis

I see Aimee in an Audi S-4 or a BMW 330i wagon with 17 inch wheels.

If you really need a utilitarian vehicle, check out the BMW X5 or the soon-to-be-released Porsche Cayenne.

If I had to buy a rice-burner, it would be a 4Runner or a Pathfinder.

I feel like my wife and I have driven/looked at every SUV out there. The Mit Sport was one of the first ones we drove, I hope this isn't too negative but the problem is they seem to be built with economy in mind. The seats were about as comfortable as a patch of concrete and the trimmings were equally weak. For the money I think the Xterra would be a better choice. At least it is has a woodsy/rugged appeal. Once you hit the $30,000 price range you get great choices. The two that JP mentioned are great both the Pathfinder and 4Runner. Good luck, as someone who just went through this whole experience I can understand your excitement and pain. Also, look at the thread Durangos and other Utes in this forum for other ideas on SUV's. Good luck!

:think I guess I musta missed that article. :silly: I have not heard about any Mitsubishi cover up. I simply like the way the vehicle looks and was unfamiliar with it hence my posting here.

I took a closer look at the specs the other day. Seems like it would be kind of whimpy on the power side. V6 200HP @ 5000rpms???! That doesn't seem like much for an SUV. I'd have to test drive one to see.

JP, if a Tahoe is out of my price range I hardly think the BMW wouldn't!

I don't like the 4Runners. I've been in a few and always felt like the damn thing was going to tip over. I haven't been in an newer Pathfinder but I am of the opinion they are cheap. No way in hell on the Dodge Durango either. Don't like Dodge and those cars are UGLY! :) I know I'm picky. There aren't too many SUV's out there that I like that I could afford. They're either too big or too ugly. That's why I was attracted to the MS. Maybe I should just check out the Audi.

Sorry John, I make a habit of putting sunscreen on my neck so it doesn't get too red....

Awesome! You going to let Eddie drive it? :p Now that you have that there is no reason for me to get the crew cab right? ;) The question is though, will Billy fit in it? :p

Are you sure we aren't married, you sound exactly like my wife. We looked at the Audi's also. Problem is if you can't afford most SUV's the Audi's are in the same range. But they are damn nice cars.

Have you looked at the new Chevy Trailblazer? I know, it's a Chevy, but it looks pretty cool in white. They even have 4-wheel disc brakes. If I had to buy an SUV, I would take a good look at one.

I still say an Audi S-4 would look good on ya. So would a white turtleneck and some black leather pants, and some black leather boots with maybe a three-inch heel. :)

Trailblazer? Is that the same thing as the Blazer? If so, I don't think so. I used to like the Jimmys but my ex briefly had a Chevy S-10 and that thing sucked. I've heard others were unhappy with them as well.

I took a look at the Audis. Grrr, they changed the body style of the A4. I don't like the way the new ones look. I loved the previous style. :(

JP, you really need to stop riffling around in my closet! TTRGuy catches you in there and you're toast. :p

The Trailblazer is all new. It replaces the S-10 Blazer and GMC Jimmy. Check one out next time you drive by a Chevrolet dealer. They're pretty spiffy.

I gotta stop thinking out loud....

I gotta agree with JP, that new TrailBlazer is pretty sweet. I have a buddy with an all black one--nice ride. I'd go for one, but not big enough for our little crew.

And don't knock the old Blazers. The wife loved hers. We just had to upgrade to seperate the rugrats a little further!:scream:

Also, GM has that 0% interest these days . . . :think

I'd stick with a foreign car. They seem to be able to handle the emissions longer and better than the American cars. I like the Montero, just wish it would pull my trailer.

Just checked out the trailblazer, ish...not my style, but thanks for the ideas. I'm ckecking them out as they come in. :)

Maybe on the Xterra, I'll swing by the Nissan dealership and check them out. Now don't go burning me at the stake or anything but I do prefer to stick to the foreign cars even though that 0% interest is tempting. I can't believe how much those damn Tahoes start at! By the time I got all the goodies that I want that thing would be in the 40s!

So RoadRash, what did you end up getting?

The Xterra is OK

The only negative about the Xterra is it's body-on-frame construction. VERY truckish. Most of the spendy SUVs are of tub construction with 4-wheel independent suspension. Plus, the Xterra's seats make me feel like I'm sitting on the floor. It's still a decent vehicle. It's just a lil crude.

We got a Pathfinder - 0.9% for 36 months or less and 3.9% up to 60. Plus they have $1500 cash back in my area. It seems as though every dealer is willing to deal and financing is absurdly low. I loved looking at cars, all I had to do was take my wife to XYZ dealer and she fell in love (pretty sure with the cars) ; until we went to ABC just down the road and then there was a different must have. So many nice cars but luckily only a 2 car garage.

Well I just test drove a 99 4-Runner Limited 2wd. 3.4 liter V6 engine. It was okay. Not quite the get up and go I would like.
I also drove a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado 4x4. 4.7 liter V8. Nice! I didn't like the brakes though. Really had to mash them down. I still like the Tundra the best but....

Any thoughts on the Grand Cherokee? Apparently until 10/31/01 Chrystler is throwing in $2,500.00 on the 01s to keep the monthly price down. 0% is also available on the 02s.

We just bought a 01 Izusu Rodeo for my wife, V6 motor puts out 205 hp, is based on a real frame, 4 wheel disc brakes, nice CD player, and a great war., 10 years, 120,000 miles ! and 2.9 % financing. A good price and a low payment. Has real 4 low and hi on the 4X4 package and also a locking rear end. We got the 4X2 because of the frwy driving my wife does. Seems to be a nice SUV.

Last year I researched new SUVs and shortlisted the GC and Pathfinder. I ended up getting an 01 GC and I'm really impressed. It's my third GC and prior models had reliability problems, the most common being front differential binding. The new models have nice improvements, most notable a switch to an overhead cam motor with much better power band and improved suspension. I drove most SUVs and I like the GC for its power-to-weight and handling. It's a company lease so reliability was a risk I can take. If I were buying, I'd seriously consider the Pathfinder, which I believe is a better quality vehicle and the new ones have a 240HP VTEC V6, which runs strong at higher RPMs, but doesn't have the torquey pull of the GC. I think the new Pathfinders are unit-body construction and handle very good.

BTW, the brakes on the new GCs were enlarged (much needed) and have worked OK for me. I expect they will wear fast with my mountain driving though. Market is soft for GCs and the deals can be pretty good. Option packages are complicated, but there are some factory specials which include a lot of nice stuff. Best deal seems to be the "non-LTD" Laredo with 17" wheels, ; leather, sunroof, etc. I don't remember the package designation, only that it was a special factory deal that was considerably better for the price.
