Moose Chest Protector Q

I'm considering a Moose M1 CP and have some questions about the shoulder pad portion.

The Moose catalog says it has the suspension system in the shoulders; is this similar to Fox and HRP?

And, Moose make no mention of foam behind the suspension; Is there foam, similar to HRP? (the last Fox I owned did not have foam behind the suspension netting)

Lastly, overall, how do you like the Moose CP? Their other products are good stuff.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

I just received my new Moose c/p. Haven't ridden with it yet. The shoulders are suspended with netting; there isn't foam behind it. It seems well made and fits well ( for my size).

Bazooka Joe,
I had a moose M1 that I'm looking to replace after separating my shoulder. I planted myself pretty good on my right shoulder, I ended up tearing through the netting that held up the shoulder protection. I'm looking for a new protector that has both the netting and foam padding for the shoulders.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

It sounds like the HRP is the better unit with having both the foam and suspension. I've been a long time HRP user, but was interested in the Moose. The Moose does look nice and I can get one for a good price.

Rick 3,

OUCH, I'm sorry to hear about your shoulder. I separated mine #3 level a few years ago and needed surgery. If you need some details on what to do, I'd be glad to share some rehab experiences.

Also, I don't know if Moose will repair their CP, but I know HRP would, because they fixed mine after I ripped the webbing. When they say "Lifetime Guarantee", they mean it.

One other thing about an HRP, is that they make their CP's with a sheet forming process, vs injection molding by many other CP companies. The injection molding can create a flow-knit line which can become the weak point. Answer, Moose, and MSR are three companies I know of who use injection molding.

I just checked my Moose CP and it has both the net and foam clued to the shoulder peice. There isn't as much foam as the HRP unit but there is some. My Moose CP is about 2 months old. I have worn both the HRP and the Moose, can't say that I like one better than the other, the Moose seems to fit me better and doesn't move around as much as the HRP. THe Moose one is actually made by Acerbis for them.

I think either one is a good choice.

Thanks for the offer Bazooka, my separation was a level 2 thankfully and seems to be doing good so far. I pickup a new HRP this weekend. Good luck
