What happend at Mt. Morris, PA this weekend? Our local newspaper reported that the state police had to be called to stop riots at a motorcycle event.

Was it actually anything to be concerned about or did the press just make a big deal out of nothing?

Unfortunately that is becoming an all to familiar scene. There are more none MX fans going to the races and viewing them as an all weekend drunk fest.
Last year we camped at Millville for the first time in years and knew in advance no alcoholic beverages were allowed in the grounds (except whatr you bought on premises). Our coolers were searched at the camp entrance by real police officers rather then security guards. the night was perfect- quiet, and orderly.
Unfortunately the carry in of alcohol is going to be prevented at all venues soon in order to preserve the peace for the families and fans that are there to see racing and not just party

The Vegas SX was pretty interesting to say the least as well. Plenty of folks that were more interested in seeing the bottom of their beer than the race and making sure everyone else paid for them being a loser. The was one guy that was hauled off past us 2 or 3 times!

If you want to be a drunk go to a bar.

I like an occasional cold one as much as the next guy, but what really grates on my nerves are those who can't handle themselves. Some folks just never leave that frat party mentality behind. :|

We went through the same frat party scene at a baseball game last week.
And a St louis last year. Makes it tough to enjoy what you came there for. :|

Red and his buddies went to High Point last year - said Saturday night was completely out of control. He said the only time the cops went into the crowd was when someone was hurt and needed help pretty much. Other than that - they just let the party go on.

Red Bud used to be really out of control on Saturday night, too. And over the past 5 years I have seen a big improvement. Thy went from basically no rules (where people set everything on fire - new bathroom facilities, house furniture, port-a-johns, etc. - and people threw glass bottles at the cops... people flipping over cars, etc...) to now strictly segregating the party crowd from the rest, not allowing bottles, fireworks, house furniture, searching your vehicles, hauling out anyone who gets out of hand, shutting the gates at night, etc.

I have seen a few of national tracks go to NO alcohol. Yes it will bring in smaller crowds, but it will weed out a lot of the problems, too. It's a shame that people behave so nuts at nationals. :|

Sorry, dont see anything "unfortunate" about that.

Whats a real bummer is that sometimes the good guys often get caught up in the trouble. Some guys like me have no tolerance for the drunken fools and have no problem telling them to pipe down. You'd think after seeing a guy do a carreer ending jump at a F/S event, people could leave in an orderly fassion but no, a couple of guys had to start picking on some young teens in the parking lot and I dang near went to jail over it. Of course the two teens were unharmed. :D

maybe we can put these morons on a remote island with some of our european soccer fans!

with the world cup coming up, i am just wondering how long it will be before i have to start appologizing on behalf of my country for this type of behaviour! i saw it happened down here the other day at a raiders game also.

ironically, there is very little trouble at english soccer games these days since it is so well policed. the only problem is when the trouble makers go to different countries.

our cops are great at the crowd control, even though they dont have guns, they even get invited to a lot of other countries to show them how its done.

i hope this sort of thing gets dealt with soon.

Savage the unfortunate part is that I enjoy a cold one sometimes and hate to see the calm fans prevented from enjoying a couple while bench racing. The factor is knowing how many and how to behave with them. As much as I enjoy a cold one it looses its appeal at $5 a pop :silly:

Hangtown has never really had a problem but Washougle is another story.I havent been back the last 2 years but I hear they finally banned alcohol after years of many acts of stupidity by drunken and drugged out MORONS!Partying untill 4:00 in the morning,it wasnt unusall in the morning on the way to get in line at the gate to see the pros on sunday morning to walk past idiots passed out from saturday nights dumb A$$ festival,I always wonder why they would pay to come to a race they either didnt see, or dont remember. One year a family camped nekt to us,they had a teenage son and daughter. The son and his friends woke us up when they started drinking in our camp and stepped on us(we were sleeping in sleeping bags on the ground)they left us alone after we yelled a few unkind words, but they were so drunk I dont think they knew where they were.We couldnt sleep after words, the parents are in there camper this whole time untill the daughter comes back to there camp at midnight, thats when they chew her butt, threaten to send her home but meanwhile the son and friends have gone off to get loaded somewere else. When we wake up that morning theres beer cans all around us in our camp(no we dont drink)I picked up around 20 to 30 cans and dropped them on there campers step while there in the camper and no one comes out untill 30 minutes later. The dad looks at the cans and looks at us but says nothing, throws out the cans, and never says a word to his son, some example.Needsless to say we moved to a less roudy area. This is one reason the Black water was cancled,if you need to be a moron do it else where, the races are a family event for real Motocross fans, not the mentally inpared!

Washougal actually has a pretty reasonable policy now that accomodates those that want to drink responsibly. They ban alcohol, for the entire event, except Sunday's Pro Race. I suspect they would ban alcohol Sunday, but there are just too may vehicles to search. All things considered, the crowd at Washougal is pretty decent these days and the turnout is tremendous.
