my dad is considering a 250 two-stroke. at first, he thought he was going to get a 250f. but when he saw how much effort it took to get the spark plug out of a yzf426, hes thinking on a 250 two-stroke. he has ridden my 125 at TNT(practice track). hes not going to race, hes looking mainly to ride at TNT. the brand choices for him are: crf(honda), yzf(yamaha), or kxf(kawasaki). thanks for any replies.hes 6', 185lbs., and 31 y/o. i dont know how much he will be able to spend. hes pretty decent on jumps, but probably not going to hit any thing like a freestyle or expert jump.

Well let's start with brand choices. F's are four strokes, so you are looking at RM, CR, YZ, or KX models.

We would need a few more details to help you out. Budget, riding experience and the like. There is a sticky on what information you should include when asking this type of question. Not everyone is the same so you really need to give that information to get an imformed opinion.

Give us some details on your dad and you'll get much better advice.

All the bikes have their own characteristics.

For instance, RM's tend to corner VERY well, KX's tend to have GREAT straight line stability, CR's and YZ's tend to be a mix of the two. CR's tend to be considered the best handling bikes even though they tend not to corner quite as well as the RM's.

Same thing applies to suspension, motor, etc. . . Each brand tends to have a particular "feel" to it.

IMHO you can't really go wrong as far as build quality as long as you do your maintenance.
