Narrowed down to CR250, YZ250F, WR250

I love 2-stroke but will mostly be doing woods riding, pretty tight woods at that. I plan on keeping this bike atleast 5yrs so I want something that I wont 'outgrow' and can shred for atleast that long. I have also thought about the YZ450F but worry it might be harder to manage in the woods. Im about 5-10, 180lbs. I also worry that the 250 4-strokes will seem underpowered after awhile. I plan on mostly weekend woods riding, some harescrambles, and may even hit the mx track for fun every now and then. What do you guys think? I can probably get the best deal on the 02 CR as it is a leftover and has been on the floor a long time...and it has the most power. Could the CR be tamed down enough with a flywheel weight and sprockets to be a great woods bike? My last was a 92 CR125 and I had to rev that thing in the woods, it was a beating. I sold it a while back when I moved so I've not been riding in a few yrs.

Very few bikes better "all around" than the YZ250F. Never met anybody that didn't rave about it. If I was 180, that's what I'd get. At 230 I went for the 450F to haul the extra meat around.

I've got a WR250F, '03, and was kind of worried about not having enough power, but after the weekend at LBL, all I can say is that bike surprised the heck out of me. All kinds of useable power, nimble, felt good ergowise. Great bike. So great, I haven't even ridden my YZ250 two-stroker yet this season :ugg: I think it feels lonely.

never rode either yammy, but I have a cr250, and with the proper mods they will smoke anything in the woods, fww, powervalve spacer, propper jetting, pipe, PORTING, and all the goods. Porting is the best mod for your money, and definatly a weight, then gearing and all that. I also have hear all good comments about the yz250f, but it is desgined to have 125 chacteristics....

If you feel like waiting, the new Honda crf250x off-road bike is supposed to be nasty. Its the same as the new crf 250r except it has a headlight, and electric start.

the WR250 is a YZF250 with eletric start and a headlight and about 12 more pounds. Most guys under 200lbs. find the YZF250 has plenty of power.
