need more low-end in cr125

hey guys....i can only spend about $250...whats the best things to do to a cr125?? should i pipe it and put a new sprocket on it with a powernow?? if u guys have any suggestions please let me know on what to do...thanks

i would go with a port job from eric gore and about 3 or four more teeth on the rear sprocket.

If your looking for a mad low end machine, I think your riding the wrong bike...try moving up to a 250, or a 4 stroke....;)

None of the late model crs make any good bottom end.Its based on a road race engine and just doesnt make bottom end power.You can improve it with a few tricks(v force set to low tension) and a BR8EG plug and crisp jetting but it will never out pull a YZ,RM,KTM on bottom end.

With only $250 available, I suggest starting with the least expensive mod and see what it gets you. That's how we get our bikes suited to our needs from the little bikes like my son's CR80 to our bikes.

Gearing anywhere from $15 - $60 depending on the sprocket
Reeds around $50
Pipe $200 and up

If that hasn't made the bike what you want then you are looking at big $$$$.

I have an 01 cr125 and the single best improvement for low end is a moose torque spacer. You can get them from http://www.denniskirk.com/ Also an 02 cr125 exhuast flange helps also. Don't get the fmf fatty pipe because I really saw like no difference on the bottom. Get the sst with the shorty silencer. Again the best improvement is the moose torque spacer. It is only 22.50. It really gives a great boost to the bottom. Get it first then get the rest of the stuff. By the way the 00 and 01 cr125 motors are pretty much the same.

I have a 2000 CR125 and I needed more bottom end too. I did what KRN suggested to my bike. I put on the moose reed spacer and a stock 2002 CR125 exhaust flange. This really made the bike better. I also dropped the front sprocket from a 13 tooth to a 12 and left the rear stock. Its still a 125 and wont ever have enough bottom with out major motor work but what I used are cheap and really helped out.

You want low end... if you could save another $150, you could have Eric Gorr do a 133 kit, or even a 144 (I think) big bore kit for you. I believe these are $400 or so, and would yeild a substancial increase in low end.

With the std 2002 exhaust manifold, did you modify it in any way? i ask becuase i was under the impression the roof was lower-so if you bolt it straight up to a 2000/2001 it will have a big mismatch.

I just bolted the flange directly up to the cylinder with no modifications to it at all. KRN15151 did the same and we both have ridden since then with no problems. The 2002 flange has a "D" shape to it with its flat side. It still bolts right up, just like the stock flange.
