Buy a can of real chain lube and do it regularily. Can't say once a day or once a month really depends on where and how you ride as well as how often and how do you wash your bike.
We lube our chains everyday right after we clean the bike. Also make sure you check the chain adjustment often.

As long as you are getting a new chain seriously think about replacing both sprockets. worn sprockets will also wear the chain out faster

You will find a million different opinions on chain choice/chain care........here's mine.
O-ring chains are worth the money, they last a long time. X-rings (more $$) will offer less drag for your little 125. Before washing, use a wire brush to clean chain. Do not hit chain directly with power washer. Hit chain with WD40 right away ("WD" means water dispersing). Lube INSIDE of chain (part that contacts sprocket, this will cause lube to be forced INTO chain rather than being flung off). Use a good, tacky lube. For nasty conditions, steel sprockets...an o-ring chain...and good care will last an entire year of a lot of riding.

What is the stock front sproket, though? For the 250's, most run a 13/49 setup. I have a 14/51 which is actually faster than the 13/49.

my cr ran stock a 13/53 combo. I've found that the best way to clean my non o-ring chain has been with engine degreaser, water, then wd-40 or chain lube after that. Now I wipe the chain lube off the outside plates of the chain with a rag so dirt won't stick like crazy. Now, i've just gotten a monstrous 62 tooth sprocket from sprocket specialists, and a $90 regina chain, non o-ring. I went to the track yesterday and rode it. It's arenacross i'm riding in the winter, probably some of the summertime too. My dad claimed that the sprocket did the very most for his 1985 cr125, but I'm not really feeling much of a difference except for that 2nd now feels like 1st, and my top speed in 1st is like 10-15 instead of 20. but at least I can get around the track in second and do like 25 over the whoops now. I have to take my bike outdoors once my snow melts so I can decide the difference in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gear though. any comments?
he said that once I felt all that extra torque and power i'd be like :yikes:
but i'm feeling more like
