I Just got back into riding again

I used to ride as a kid, now I am 33 and went once with a few friends in Nov.. I cracked a rib that day from being out of practice, But it made gave me time to look for a bike of my own. Yesterday I bought a 1997 Yamaha YZ250, my budget was not that big, and now I am back in the game , this next week I will hit the trail atleast twice here in wester PA.

Well thats my story

Welcome to the site

Be sure and go to your User CP and update information relating to your location, type of riding, etc. After that grab a spot on the couch and tell us a bit about yourself. How long you have been riding, what kind of riding you prefer, where you are located, etc. We will do our best to hook you up with some fellow dirt bike enthusiasts.

Check out the Damn Yankee Dirt Riders forum for some folks in your area. You live in New England and you have not ridden with these folks? Well then, pop in and say hello. They don’t bite and they are usually planning a ride somewhere.

Watch the Damn Yankee Dirt Riders forum for information on an upcoming spring ride at Paragon Adventure Park.

Again, welcome to the site and shout if you have any questions!

Funny - same story for me. Rode as a kid, got out of it for 15 years - started again in '05 at age 33.

Congrats!

It must be a trend....... Except I am 31. Having a son has made more of a kid out of me than ever. I can't wait until he is old enough for that first 50. Best of luck guys.... and rember wear the safety gear. We don't heal like we used too.

My daughter's 3 in June. Battery powered this summer and real 50 next summer - although she's small like I am so I'll probably have to put her on a quad first. :|

Oh well - as long as she's riding and enjoys it.

Yea this is a growing trend around my area. Three of my buds just got quads, they are all in thier mid 30s. The gentileman who got me back into riding is 62, he just started riding again 2 years ago.

On the safety gear, first thing I did was went and got a brand new helmet(HJC CL-X4), boots(thor), goggles(Scott), Bark Busters. I have my chest protector that I custome made for SCA fighting, Hard leather is great for action sports. while I was putting all this stuff on a few days ago I thought , when I was 15 I just wore a helmet and work boots with regulair clothes, now I want all the protection I can get. Am I old, or is it true wisdom comes with age.

Both! ;)

I just bought an EVS knee brace for an old soccer injury and I plan on buying neck and back braces - after I shorted a triple about 3 months ago, my back is still giving me problems. I think I was temporarily paralyzed for about 10 seconds because of the force of the impact with the face of the next jump 25 feet past the triple.

When I was a kid, dad had to make me wear the gear. Not anymore . . .

Gosh, its expensive to keep the bike in good condition, buy all gear, buy the race fuel, keep myself in good condition, etc . . . My wife's gonna kill me this year.

:nener: to her!
