Hi -I'm running a Keihin PWK 35mm Air striker (from a 250 quad) on my '87 200. The jetting is the standard KDX set up. I haven't checked the needle.

The problem is that that I can't get it to idle. Winding in the idle speed screw doesn't make any difference to idling speed.

The airscrew is one and a half turns out.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Is the idle speed screw meant to lift the slide? If so check and see that its actually doing that if its not maybe theres a wrong part involved.

When you say you can't get it to idle - do you mean it stalls at idle speed or it revs too high?

If it is stalling at idle speed check your compression. Let us know what it is.

Yeah, it's stalling at idle speed, screw wound fully in. I'll take it off and check the action as suggested.

It revs nice and crisply off the bottom.

The motor's fully rebuilt, and I'm just running it in. Compression is high.

I took the carb off and had a look in the back. The slide does move up, but minimally. Probably around 1.5mm. The lip on the front of the slide doesn't clear the slot it sits in. I can't see a gap when the screw is fully wound in - but that's not to say that air isn't passing through. Does this sound right?
