We're leaving the evening of the 20th, arriving on the 21st (we have a 10 month old, so we're doing the trip in 2 parts - it's about 8 hours from here).

Staying/riding at my buddy's in Raeford May 21st to 24th, going to Myrtle Beach from 24th to 28th, the coming back to my buddy's to ride from the 28th to the 1st.

My buddy is in the military, is new to MX and wanted a bike - but he knows NOTHING about them. I bought him one up here, have fixed it up and am taking it to him. Thought it would be good to ride with him for a couple weekends to get him started.

I've been doing some research. . .

Did you know about this meetup group:

http://www.meetup.com/quarterthrottlecrew/

They're renting Devil's Ridge on the 29th - $20 per rider.

Of those tracks listed, Wide open is closest to me. Probably 2.5-3 hrs. Montrose may or may not be open, but my shop guy is always raving about how great that track was in it's heyday. Heard good things about TNT, and ECMX. The others aren't really talked about in my area.

I have a buddy in that meetup group, he says that wide open is fast. Inquired about the dates due to a local race this weekend. Nothing really going on during your timeframe though.

I have been to TNT many times...dry and hardpacked, some days are better than others, but Barbara tries to keep them up. There are several tracks for varied skill levels and all are fairly safe and fun. I have also ridden the trails and they are a good time too. It's best to buy a day pass if you plan to only ride once.

You might also look into Rervolution Park Mx (RPM)...a big natural style track with deep wood chipped dirt and watered fairly well.

Check out d29mx.com and southeastmx.com for more local info and personalities.
