I have permission to put a track on a piece of are 5-acre ranch. its 350 long and it starts out with 100ft wide narrows to 55feet wide than opens back up to 85 feet wide. ill post a pic. what would be a good layout for it? I was gunna upload a overhead pic but its a bitmap.

How about something like this? The track could range 5-10 feet wide, and shouldn't be more than 7 through the skinny part.

Can you overlay it with a square foot grid? That might be more helpful for your layout.

hey as long as you have your own track for you and your buddys to ride on that kicks ass no matter what. I have the dvd on the pipe 3. in there they show ryan villopoto on a mx track that he practices on that was built on 5 acres and it was sweet!!! I think 5 acres is enough.

Congrats on having the chance to build your own track.

However, if your dimensions are accurate, you have less than 1 acre. At an average width of 80' x 350' long, you have about 28,000 square feet, or 2/3 of one acre.

One acre = 43,560 square feet.

Five acres = 217,800 square feet. That would be a square with sides of over 466', or a rectangle measuring approx. 200' x 1,090'

I read it as being a 5 acre area, that he can only build on part of. I don't think he meant the area in his drawing was 5 acres.

:nener: Frudaddy, did you just copy and paste the track from spain? :nener:
What track from Spain? I just looked at the layout area and threw down what made sense to me. I honestly don't know what track you are talking about.

BH, it coud be as technical as you want it to be, there are a variety of turns, with plenty of room for jumps, whoops, and whatever else you decide to throw in. You can also set it up so that it can be run in either direction, thus making it twice as much fun.

Your design looks like the Barcelona Circuit in Spain(The design looks like a cowboy hat). You might be a genius afterall

Shhhhhhh, don't say that so loud, people might start making fun of me again!

I do see some resemblance in the layout, but I have allowed for a lot more obstacles.

You are correct. We do have 5 acres but the rest is all or the horses.

thanks for the ideas everyone!

Should be able also to have a 10' to 11' wide track in the norrow middle with 4 lanes there.
But such a wide track won't leave much space between lanes, thus limiting the height of the jumps. Of course, a creative layout might make 10' a feasable width.
