broken odometer

i have a 1992 kdx200 and my odometer does not work. i took the cable off and when i spun the bottom of it the to did not spin. does that mean that the cable is broken. if it is were can i get a new one. if not how would i fix it..

Get a new one from Kawasaki and you're good to go.

Take both ends of the cable off and then spin the center drive cable to see what it does. And, while its apart try lubing it too. It should be done every now and then. This also makes sure that it was assembled properly, because it has to line up with the slots in the drive gear on the wheel and the odo itself.
