Oil for ktm 250sxf

Yet another oil thread BUT!!! I did search before posting

I just got an 07 250sxf and thinking of changing the oil before riding. I was gonna use the recommended Motorex 10w-50 till I found out the price of it ($100 NZ for 4 litres)

What oil are you guys running in your 250 sxf?

After reading the other thread on siezures, which may be due to an oil supply problem (when cold). I suggest you understand all about the oil the OEM specified and if you can find it, why. There are generally alternatives to any particular brand and viscosity. So a brand only available in Europe can often be matched here in the states with some study.

If you can locate a VOA (virgin oil analysis) or if the oil's maker has specs on a web site, that would go a long way towards understanding what the oil is.

If I were to guess, Mobil 1 10-40 MX4t (M1 racing 4t 10-40) would be a close match. That is some spectacular oil. Excellent levels of additives, fully PAO based (true synthetic), excellent VI and overall excellent performance experience. Just a guess though.
