30 years ago I got 2 stroke suzuki for Christmas. It was lightly used, and I don't know what year it was, or what model. It had headlight, tail light, blinkers, etc. Chrome fenders. It had a lever on the side of the engine, that allowed you to change gear ratios. Low range for off-road, and high for road. I stripped it down and pretended it was a mx bike for about 6 years. lol Just wondered if anyone can tell me what model bike that was? I got to thinking about it because of the "what was your first ride" thread. Thanks.

The Suzuki TC series was the dual sport bike with the dual range gear box.

My first bike was a '73 TC100. It was basically a TS100 but with a dual range 4 speed instead of a normal 5 speed.

I think there was also a TC125 and TC185, and maybe a TC90, too. I think the very first TC dual range bikes were made about 1970, and the last ones about 1976. Some may have been dual range 5 speeds instead of 4speeds like my TC100.

You can find brochures and pics of many of the TC models here http://www.suzukicycles.org/All-Suzuki/all_suzuki_models.html

Here was my TC100:

THANKS!! I'll bet that's it. It looked very similiar to the one in your pic, but I was thinking the exhaust was routed differently. At least now I can search for different TC models. I had a 185 later on, but it didn't have the 2 speed gear box. Thanks again.

Yep, as shown in Chili's pics, the 90cc Suzuki's had an up pipe. I think they were discontinued in the early 70's.

The Suzuki 100 and 125 had downpipes, as did the early TS400. The TS185 and TS250 had an up pipe.

I also remember them offering a 120cc bike back then. It seems like it was a dual range transmission too.

I'll get it figured out. Thanks for the help and advice guys. I think there might be a pic of it somewhere at my parent's house...I'll have to see if I can dig it up.
