Rulon Gardner, the heavyweight wrestler that beat the russian at summer games, is missing. He was snowmobiling yesterday about an hour from hear near Afton, Wyoming. This was reported on the local news this morning. It has been pretty cold here, going below zero every night here in town. In the mountains where he is, it was probably at least 10 below zero (F) last night. Let's hope they find him soon, as no one can survive these temperatures very long.

I've heard now he was found this morning and is here in Idaho Falls recovering with frostbite and hypothermia. I haven't heard how bad it is but at least he is still alive. It was 15 below zero where he spent the night. Does anyone remember him? He was pretty famous for a time as his win was one of the biggest upsets in Olympic history. He was on Leno, Letterman, etc.

I remember him well. He was/is in some commercials there for a while for insecticides here in the KC area, as he is a farmer by trade. Seems like a genuinely nice guy, too. Glad to hear that he is still alive.
I looked around the net a bit yesterday for an update but didn't find anything. Thanks for the update.

Latest update on this. He is at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. They are trying to keep his toes, but it unfortunately appears he will lose at least some of them due to extreme frostbite. Apparently his feet were literally frozen clear through when he was rescued. This is very sad as he was planning on returning to the Olympics to defend his gold medal. I would guess this is now going to be impossible.
