one sided rear brake pad wear?

I have a 99 cr 250. I have a problem with the rear brake pads wearing unevenly. The pad next to the caliper piston wears to the metal and the pad on the other side looks brand new. The rotor isn't warped and the caliper isn't frozen on the slider bolts. I run good quality brake pads as well. This problem has me stumped. Any help will be appreciated.

Can't tell you it's normal, but I can tell you my 02 cr250 does the same thing. I just figured it was an engineering problem and went on.

There's usually slight uneven wear in pads, but if its dramatic, then something is wrong.
You probably need to inspect the sliding surfaces for the pads.
Make sure the sliding surface on the caliper is completely free from any corosion. Also make sure that the anti rattle shims are installed the right way up. The rear shim can go in upside down which prevents the pads from sliding properly.
It also helps to put some anti sieze on the tab on the pad.
Also look at the pin the pad slides on. Often a groove wears in this pin preventing one pad from moving properly.
