An Editorial

After that post I had to post the following letter from Ted Nugent:

Written by Ted Nugent, the rock singer and hunter/naturalists upon hearing that California Senators B. Boxer and D. Feinstein denounced him for being a “gun owner” and a “Rock Star”. This was his response after telling the senators about his past contributions to children’s charities and scholarship foundations which have totaled more than $13.7 million dollars in the last 5 years.
I’m a Bad American-this pretty much sums it up for me. I like big trucks, big boats, big houses, and naturally, pretty women.
I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some mid-level governmental functionary with a bad comb-over who wants to give it away to crack addicts squirting out babies.
I don’t care about appearing compassionate.
I think playing with toy guns doesn’t make you a killer. I believe ignoring your kids and giving them Prozac might.
I think that I’m doing better than the homeless are.
I don’t think being a minority makes you noble or victimized. I have the right not to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird or make me mad. This is my life to live and not necessarily up to others expectations. I know what SEX is and there are not varying degrees if it. I don’t celebrate Kwanzaa. But if you want to that’s fine, I just don’t feel like everyone else should have to.
I believe that if you are selling me a Dairy Queen shake, a pack of cigarettes or hotel room you do it in English. As a matter of fact, if you are an American citizen you should speak English. My uncles and forefathers shouldn’t have had to die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come disrespect ours and make us bend to your will. Get over it!!!!!
I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry butt if you’re running from them after they tell you to stop. If you can’t understand the word “freeze” or “stop” in English?see the previous line. I don’t use
the excuse “it’s for the children” as a shield for unpopular opinions or actions.
I know how to count votes and I feel much safer letting a machine with no politician affiliation do a recount when needed. I know what the definition of Lying is, and it isn’t based on the word “is” -ever.
I don’t think just because you were not born in this country you qualify for special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans, etc, so you can open a hotel, 7-Eleven, trinket shop or anything else, while the indigenous peoples can’t get past a high school education because they can’t afford it.
I didn’t take the initiative in inventing the internet. I thought the Taco Bell dog was funny.
I want them to bring back safe and sane fireworks.
I believe no one ever died because of something Ozzy Osbourne, Ice T or Marilyn Manson sang, but that doesn’t mean I want to listen to that crap from someone else’s car when I’m stopped at a red light. But I respect your right to.
I think that being a student doesn’t give you any more enlightenment than working at Blockbuster or Jack in the Box.
I don’t want to eat or drink anything with the words, light, Iite or fat free on the package.
Our soldiers did not go to some foreign country and risk their lives in vain and defend our Constitution so that decades later you can tell me it’s a living document every changing and is open to interpretation. The guys who wrote it were light years ahead of anyone today and they meant what they said - now leave the document alone or there’s going to be trouble.
I don’t hate the rich. I help the poor. I know wrestling is fake. I’ve never owned, or was a slave and a large percentage of our forefathers weren’t wealthy enough to own one either. Please stop blaming me because some prior white people were idiots and remember tons of white, Chinese, Indian and other races have been enslaved too? it was wrong for every one of them. Get over it!!!
I believe in self-righteous liberal Democrat with a cause is more dangerous than a Hell’s Angel with an attitude.
I want to know exactly which church is it where the “Reverend” Jesse Jackson preaches and what exactly is his job function. I own a gun, you can own a gun and any red-blooded American should be allowed to own a gun, but if you use it in a crime, you should do the time.
I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If its makes you mad, then invent the next operating system that’s better and put your name on the building. Ask your buddy that invented the Internet to help you.
I don’t believe in hate crime legislation. Even suggesting it makes me mad.
You’re telling me that someone who is a minority, gay, disabled, another nationality, or otherwise different from the mainstream of this country has more value as a human being that I do as a white male. If someone kills anyone, I’d say that it’s a hate crime. We don’t need more laws! Let’s enforce the ones we already have.
I think turkey bacon, turkey beef, turkey fake anything stinks. I believe that it doesn’t take a village to raise a child? it takes a parent with guts to stand up to kids and spank his behind and say “No” when it’s necessary to do so. I’ll admit that the only movie that ever made me cry was Ole Yeller. I didn’t realize that Dr. Suess was a genius until I had a kid.
I will not be frowned upon or be looked down upon or be made to keep silent because I have these beliefs and opinions. I thought this country allowed me that right. I will not conform or compromise just to keep from hurting somebody’s feelings. I’m neither angry nor disenfranchised, no matter how desperately the mainstream media would like the world to believe otherwise.
Yes I guess by some people’s definition, I may be a bad American, but that’s tough.

Thr only part I disagree with is that he said he had the right to be intolerant, maybe that means something different to him thatn it does to me. If you don't like someone then don't hang around them, but they have the right to live differntly from me or Ted if they want. I disagree with a lot of lifestyles, and would not choose them but I am not the appointed guardian of other Americans we should all share the same freedoms! (except tree huggers of course  )

While I'm a big fan of Ted in general, he didn't write that piece. It's another one of the urban myths that keep floating around the internet. Still a great piece nonetheless.

For more info on this and to check the validity of other urban legends, check out www.snopes.com. For a reference to this article, check out:

The orignal version was written by a guy named "bootyist-monk" on www.freerepublic.com. Check it out here:

I took that right out of my local news paper and was unaware they didn't check their source. It sounds just like something that Ted would say/write.

A journalist not thoroughly check their source? Naaaa, I don't believe it!

;)

I hear Ted occasionally on the local talk radio shows. Man can that guy rant! .... And I mean that as a compliment...

This has been floating around for years - Yes you have a right to be a 'BAD' American - this does not make you a good human being though !

Talk about promoting intolerance and bigotry.

We as a society have a responsibility to each other - compassion is what sets us aside from the animals - makes us better if you care to put it that way.

I have some very good friends who came to the USA from Bulgaria as refugees. They have done everything and more asked of them to be decent citizens, worked multiple jobs, law abiding etc. None of them could speak English when they got here, 5 years later they all can, but from the time they arrived until now they have had a lot of crap in their face because they could not speak English. Are you suggesting a person learn English before they get a job. Should refugees be on welfare, go to school, before working at MacDonald's, the Mall, or anywhere else.

Think twice next time you want to lash out at some poor kid/adult doing a job and who struggles with their language - Hell, at least they are at a job doing honest work.

Garbage like this does little to build respect, compassion and good citizenship.

Attitudes like this just sicken me !

looks like a lot of people died in vain for this idiot !

BTW - this little piece of so called fake journalism was written, not as an editorial or someone speaking their mind - but was designed from the start to cause outrage, and dissention. Spark some controversy. It was written in the style of Ted Nugent and accredited to him to give it some legitimacy - pretty sad if you ask me !

Bundu,
Don’t know man…..the way I read it whoever wrote the piece would be proud of your friends from Bulgaria, just as you are. The way it sounds to me is they came here, busted their collective arses, learned to speak English, are productive members of society and hopefully are now US citizens (unclear on this). Is that about right?

I agree with nearly all of the above piece and based on what you’ve written about your friends I would be proud to know them as well.

What am I missing here?

biglou

Being absolutely candid here, I have never, not once understood where this utopian society is that Bundu alludes to periodically. The way I see it, if you ain't with the program, here, in MY United States of America, either square your ass away and get with it, or vote to have it changed or get out. cut and dried. I;m sick of all this liberal crybaby bull****. Live dog than a dead lion? Really? You would rather live on your knees than die on your feet like a man?

Easy hands,

BB I don't know you from Adam, and I am guessing that that comment was directed to me since I made the comment. You know nothing of me and if I do decide to live a certain way that reflects some of the origionally posted comments, so be it. But, who knows what a good human being is? I live my life through certain pricipals and morals instilled by my middle class god fearing parents and the US Army. I commend your friends for working hard for what they have, but don't accuse me of being intolerant to immigrants, I was married to a German woman so I know how difficult the language barrier can be.

looks like a lot of people died in vain for this idiot !

Yes alot of people did, I for one am willing to die fighting for what this Nation was founded on, one of them being the 1st Ammendment.

I have typed and erased several times now.
I think it best for me to just say this:
Alan, your comments are way off base and they sicken me. You obviously have less than a clue. FAR less than a clue. I am quite intolerant and biggoted towards ANYONE who holds your views. And you know what...I have that right!

In the words of the illustrious Lou, "Square your ass away, and get with it..."

I too am a bad American.

IrishEKU you can jump to all the misguided conclusion you wish to choose to, this was not aimed at you but at the person who wrote this BS.

I guess nobody gets it that my Bulgarian friends have had this very crap so stated at the beginning of this piece, handed to them. Maybe I should quote the offending piece

believe that if you are selling me a Dairy Queen shake, a pack of cigarettes or hotel room you do it in English. As a matter of fact, if you are an American citizen you should speak English. My uncles and forefathers shouldn’t have had to die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come disrespect ours and make us bend to your will

So Jay, what is off base - Do you have a right to verbally abuse someone who is serving you, be it at MacDonald's or the Mall. ?!

I suggest you read my piece again !

BigLou, you havn't got a clue 'tis better to be a live dog than a dead lion - see the movie 'something wild', then you may get it.

As it is, I would prefer to die like my Hero - Jesus Christ, he was, and is the man !

I am sick and tired of the politically correct, candy-coated, liberal BS that is constantly being forced down our throats. Stand up and look me in the eye like a man when you talk to me. I want you to see my face when I tell you just exactly how I feel.

Does this mean to say, you also have the right to verbally abuse those that disagree with you. I will look you in the eye anyday.

I always had to laugh when DrBillZ went on one of his tirades, and I would say to him "you say LIBERAL, like its a bad thing" ;)

Who said I was verbally abusing anyone? I don't have a problem with refugees. I also don't stay at Hotel Hodji. I also don't have a problem with those who chose not to speak english, nor will I hire them....or buy goods from them, for that matter.
I also don't have a problem with any Bugarians in particular. But if they take a load of crap, so be it. If they didn't want crap perhaps they should have prepared themselves better before making their journey to our land. I repeat OUR LAND, not theirs, ours. Get it?
We are no the catch all for the ills of the world. If one wants to come here, fine. If one wants to live here, fine.
I do have a problem, as does the author of the article, with giving special monies to foriegners when a poor indegenous kid can't even afford a pair of shoes. That is preciesly why I don't stay at hotel Hodji. I often wondered why so many east indian folks ran motels, and when I found out why it sickened me. Our government funds them. I find that quite ludicrous. Too many of our own people hurting here for us to throw money at foreigners.
Screw em.
Have you taken any of our money before becoming a citizen?

It was the Henryetta paper as I used to live there.

I agree we have a bunch of soft (or is that sorry) ass politicians running the place. Yes, I do vote but the one's I vote for are pretty much the same as my previous comments.

Man, I guess I poured the napalm on this and tossed the :flame: to it.

Jay, one thing I can agree with you, we have millions of citizens in the USA with no health care, and we can't take care of them, yet we give billions to third world countries - makes no sense to me.

'Have I taken your money' - Hah - rather the other way around buddy, I have paid my dues.

I guess you have no real idea as to what a refugee is - we are talking about no choice (or little or no) in the matter - escaping from your country with nothing on your back. Your comments and ignorance in this regard is simply astounding !

As I've said we are not the catch-all for the ills of other countries.
What makes you think I owe a refugee anything, just because he had it bad in his country? Hell, he can come here and be part of the game.
Should we fund his coming here? I think not.

And when you say "the other way around" what specifically do you mean, Buddy?

Now I am nearing upset, you basically tried to dismiss my comment as "guilt by association." I stand by both of them and support them.

Bundu, I have since learned that you are a visitor to this country. I personally don't think you have much to say. I checked on a few of your posts and one of them had to do with a work related visa. Your income is fostered upon this country and the people in it. This "Person"( Whom actually wrote the original information) has a right, fostered by the Constitution to voice his belief's anyway he seems fit whether you like it or not.

I would suggest that you accept that fact and learn to live with it. There are many others in the US that foster similar thinking and belief's that believe in a "Kinder, Gentler place" but, it isn't going to happen without popular opinion.

As a person who is considered "Far Right" you won't get it from me. I am a gun owner, proponent of restricting immigration, increasing military spending and all out for the war against terrorism. I think your "imagined utopia" is the stuff of fairy tales. I think it should be left there.

Good grief.
What, if I may ask, is the reason you do not have citizenship here?
Is there a particular reason you are not one? Do you plan on becoming a citizen?

I can only assume from your above post that you are not a citizen. If you are, then my deepest appology for the following ....but if you are NOT a citizen, you sure as hell need to go back and edit the "WE"'s out of your previous postings...unless you were reffering to you and the mouse in your pocket.

Sorry Jay, no I am not a citizen, My Bulgarian friends are. A refugee from the time they set foot in the country may become a citizen after 5 years, an automatic green card (permanent residence) status is granted to them on arrival.

Someone like myself who is a temporary worker, has up to six years to gain permanent residence, and can apply to be a citizen after 5 years - it takes about 10-11 years to achieve this. I will have been here 5 years in April.

When the time comes I will pledge my allegiance to the USA and will become a citizen (if you'll have me !) - so yes until then, I am a guest in your country.

To put you guys straight on this, I love this country, my little girl is an American citizen. I have great respect for the US constitution, its people, its democratic principles, and probably most of all 'The freedom of speech'. I believe in doing my bit, contributing taxes, volunteer work, church etc, and given the chance would serve in the US armed forces. I have already served 4 years in South Africa. I am actively encouraging my son, to serve, and have high hopes that he will make it to Air Force academy (mind you he is only 8, so he may just do his own thing !)

That's my story .

Direct all derogatory comments to me.

You are a visitor to this country that I last heard of and have little to stand on aside from living here under restriction of law.

Life as most of us know it here is difficult and what we make of it.

You as a visitor have benefited from this country and prospered, hence the reason you left your old one.

I have forever been a resident and am making my way as I can weather it is within your views or not.

BB Suck it up and understand that all views don't bend to yours.....
