Still working hard to get a least a keeper or two when shooting people, it's been the hardest aspect of photog for me so far, well, I guess moto is harder, but the subjects aren't as picky :p

The D-Man.
So much photoshop on this one I couldn't begin to remember what all I did. Just going for a different, soft, oldschool look. Sept 2005.

You guys can have your moto-photos. This is the area I want to perfect as well. Getting the perfect pics of my kids is what got me wanting to do the whole photography thing anways. :)

Nice pics, Okie

Thanks Greenie...
I tend to go for candids, prefer them to posed shots. If they are looking at the camera, most of the time, I don't push the button. Dylan just happens to be photogenic (IMHO, I may be biased :) ) even his "posed" shots look good sometimes.

Just playing around with cropping and borders. Trying to make something of the original pic where I cut their legs off. :yikes: I like this pic too much just to throw it into the scrap pile. LOL

I almost forgot I had this pic. This was taken on our old POS camera, but it came out great. (Father and son overlooking the Miss River from Audobon Park in New Orleans)

About shots of your own kids/family.

No doubt, if it's at least in focus, you (the relative), will probably like it.

For everyone else, it's just another snapshot of some kids.
That being the case, there needs to be something creatively interesting about it... the setting, composition, unusual expression on their face, effect, something. For instance, compare a posed ("sit there and hold your sister and smile) shot vs the same kids, caught with a massive, candid smile. Catch that well and everyone likes it.

Outstanding shot Greenie. More proof that the equipment is the least important part.

Indeed. I'll agree that not everyone is gonna like pics of my kids as much as I like pics of my kids. I'm gonna have to play around more and try for those candid/ unplanned photo ops. Thanks, Okie

Thanks Rich. Yeah, my wife is the one with the "eye" for this stuff that's for sure.

That's pretty cool, Rich. Did you use the "lighting effects" in PS? I like how you pulled the green in the grass. I was also thinking of doing a BnW of it.

I like it both ways actually.

Something along these lines... (No doubt, it's fun to play around with pics in photoshop to see what looks good.)

I used Black, White & Color Control Points in the Nikon RAW software. First time trying that.:whoa:

I really like the Black & White version, so I took a shot at it too.

I like your BnW more. :) Even better than the color version you did.
