I appreciate the Brevort ride review. I'm wondering if any of you have done the Pine Ridge Two-Heart trail near Newberry? I plan on heading over that way in October, (assuming the snow hasn't started flying) and wondered what that one was like.

Also any info on other Eastern U.P. trails would be appreciated. Unfortunately the Western U.P. only seems to have ORV routes which are usually old rail grades, i.e. straight, wide and flat.

Hey , I'v ridden the Two Hearted trail, Last year. As I recall, I had a good time, but I can't remember just what the trail was like. I also rode Sandtown that weekend and had a blast. I want to get back up there sometime. Just this last Memorial Day weekend, I rode some smaller trails on the east end of the UP. Cranberry Lake, alot of two track I remember, but at the eastern end was the tightest stuff I have rode yet. Short, but tight. Bay City Lake and Forman Lake were also good rides. Birch Hill was great. Some tight trail with a few rocks trown in. I want to go back there also. All of these trails are located rather close together, are short, and with a little trailering, can be ridden in one day. I have not made it to Kinross yet. Or Drummond Island, but some day I will get there. Over Labor Day I rode Danaher Plains and Brevort Trail system. As I remember,I would ride Danaher Plains again, but I wouldn't make a special trip just to do it. Can't tell you why , just felt funny that day. I would suggest you try it and see what you think. I would suggest you try all the trails in MI. Thats what I want to do. :thumb:

Hey Motolaw! I rode up there over Labor Day weekend and it was a balst! There are some very scenic trails in that area. We just love it up there! Anyway, we camped at Muskallonge Lake State Park, but there are some awesome State Forest cg's right on the trails up in that area. It's quite an experience as you can basically ride anything that isn't paved (read - seasonal roads) with just your ORV sticker. It's fun to be able to ride the ORV trail then hop onto the snowmobile trail or two track as you criss cross. The trails are nice! Not very whooped as they don't get a ton of use, but with that goes some overgrown areas that make it tricky to see very far up the trail. Overall, a very nice area to ride! BTW, make it point to ride to Rainbow Lake Lodge at the mouth of the Two Hearted River. PM if you have specific questions! Have fun!!

I cant offer much info on those trails - but i noticed you are from Wakefield. I lived on Black River Road north from Bessemer for a few years (just past that horse ranch (Palms??) or that lodge - dont recall the name. Sure is a beautiful area..but you are right - the west end isnt much for single track - but tons of wide stuff, old logging roads etc and some real nice terrain.

So how is life in Wakefield? I used to work for Conners up to '92 - they are long gone now though! Did the (final) closing of White Pine mine have much of an impact locally?
